Today as temperatures climbed into the triple digits, Mei Ling, Corey, Harry and Randy helped The Shared Plate served lunch to those in need in our community. It was fulfilling to work alongside the regular volunteers at United Methodist Church as they hustled to serve an overflow crowd. Thanks to all the volunteers that made this event a success.

Here are three of our Palm Springs volunteers that spent the late morning at Community Food Bank providing grocery bags to residents in need of food assistance. Those smiles and sweat meant they enjoyed laughter and conversations the whole time they were lending a hand. Come join us each Thursday 9:45 am to noon.

Quick pic while a couple of our volunteers chat about life, living in the Coachella Valley and volunteering. This was a lull in the evening, then they became action heroes: bagging food, placing it in a bin and then rolling the bins out to waiting community members that rely on The Center Foodbank to feed themselves and loved ones. We do this event the first Thursday of each month, 3:45 pm to 7:00 pm, but look for a new upcoming weekly volunteer event each Thursday, 9:45 am to 12:00 pm!

Come volunteer with the Mizell Center on Wednesday 7/29, 10-4.

Help refresh Aunt Betty's Resale Shop by painting the interior and giving the space a fresh, new look before the busy season begins. Get out of the heat, put on your paint clothes and spend the day making a visible difference alongside fellow volunteers. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers.

This project supports the Mizell Center's mission of serving older adults and strengthening the community through programs and services that promote connection, independence and well-being.

Our Gay For Good Palm Springs volunteers were proud to partner with the American Red Cross during their Sound the Alarm event, helping test smoke detectors and support home fire safety in our community. Small actions can make a lifesaving difference, and we’re grateful to have been part of this important effort.

G4G volunteers set up the Richmond/Ermet Aid Foundation Pink Party. REAF’s focus areas include HIV/AIDS services, hunger programs and support for homeless and disenfranchised youth and seniors. The beneficiary for this event was the Mizell Center’s Meals on Wheels program.
