Set against the vast sweep of the Coachella Valley, the latest Palm Springs retreat by unfolds as a study in elevation and elemental calm. Working in collaboration with landscape architecture firm , Lewis has shaped a home that feels suspended between earth and sky, a sanctuary attuned to the rhythms of its desert setting.
The boomerang-shaped structure rests lightly on three board-formed concrete pedestals, lifting the house above the rugged arroyo and creating the sensation of a quiet hover. Blackened cypress and patinated steel wrap the exterior in a muted, tactile armour, absorbing the desert light by day and dissolving into shadow as evening draws in.
Inside, an understated palette of oak, honed limestone and large-format porcelain creates a meditative softness. Floor-to-ceiling glazing stretches across the plan, pulling the San Jacinto Mountains, the valley floor and the distant wind farms into every room, turning the landscape into a slow-moving tableau.
