Desert Palisades

Desert Palisades An enclave of magnificent homesites, Desert Palisades brings extraordinary architecture to SoCal.

Unlike the typical, master-planned, cookie-cutter community, Desert Palisades is the first community that from the ground up will uphold the ideals that represent the very best in midcentury and contemporary architecture in Palm Springs. Residents are encouraged to enlist the world's top architects to customize their homes while adhering to a set of forward-thinking, resource efficient, environmen

tally sensitive community guidelines. From any one location in Desert Palisades, one can glimpse desert cacti, palm trees, dramatically sloping green hillsides, desert floor and snow-capped peaks. Views from the enclave stretch across the Coachella Valley floor to the Salton Sea, encompassing the surrounding San Jacinto, Santa Rosa and Chocolate Mountain Ridges. Each homesite at Desert Palisades is appointed to preserve the natural contours of the land and offer varying elevation, topography and view lines. No two properties are the same, no flat-grade pads will be constructed and no mass grading will occur. Email [email protected] for a list of available lots or more information.

・・・
Set against the vast sweep of the Coachella Valley, the latest Palm Springs retreat by unfolds as a study in elevation and elemental calm. Working in collaboration with landscape architecture firm , Lewis has shaped a home that feels suspended between earth and sky, a sanctuary attuned to the rhythms of its desert setting.

The boomerang-shaped structure rests lightly on three board-formed concrete pedestals, lifting the house above the rugged arroyo and creating the sensation of a quiet hover. Blackened cypress and patinated steel wrap the exterior in a muted, tactile armour, absorbing the desert light by day and dissolving into shadow as evening draws in.

Inside, an understated palette of oak, honed limestone and large-format porcelain creates a meditative softness. Floor-to-ceiling glazing stretches across the plan, pulling the San Jacinto Mountains, the valley floor and the distant wind farms into every room, turning the landscape into a slow-moving tableau.
