Violence against nurses isn’t limited to the ER.

Telemetry and step-down nurses face these risks, too, yet their experiences don’t always get the same attention.

Violence is not part of the job, no matter what unit you work in.

If you’re a telemetry or step-down nurse, are these conversations happening at your workplace? What are you seeing on your unit?

One hour.

I’ve been a nurse’s aide, a CNA, an ER tech, an LPN and an RN. I’ve been on the receiving end. Nobody counted it then. We’re counting it now.

Going live at 8 PM ET. Bring your questions: anonymity, what happens to your report, who pays for this. I’ll answer all of it.

Two hours.

Quick question for every nurse, tech, aide and therapist: how many times have you been hit, cursed at or threatened at work… and never reported it?

Drop the number in the comments. No details needed. Let’s see how big this really is.

If you have ever been a patient in a facility, have a loved one who works with patients, have been attacked at work, retired from healthcare, or lost your job due to violence in healthcare. You have heard about staffing issues, but tonight you'll see what's been built stemming from my doctoral project, "Preventing Patient-on-Nurse Violence Through Education." It is time to revolutionize healthcare and take it back.

Every nurse knows the line. ā€œJust write it up.ā€ Then nothing happens, so you stop writing it up.

Tonight at 8 PM ET, that changes. OffChart goes live: a free, anonymous place for every healthcare worker to report what happened and keep their own record. Live on Facebook and Instagram

Tag the coworker who’s heard ā€œit’s part of the jobā€ one too many times. šŸ‘‡

If you work psych, you already know the risk is different.

Psych aides were reporting injuries at rates higher than police officers and security guards. And in almost 9 out of 10 cases, the patient was the one who caused the injury.

This is your specialty. You trained for this population. You built your doctorate, your career, and your practice around caring for people in crisis.

So why are we still treating violence like it’s just part of the job?

Comment your unit + ONE word for how safe you feel at work.

And tonight, we’re taking this somewhere bigger.

We’re going LIVE at 8 PM to launch the biggest breakthrough in the nursing industry.

If you work psych, you need to be there.

There’s a lot behind this photo. šŸ˜…

From nurse’s aide to CNA, ER tech, LPN, RN, and eventually psych NP, I’ve worked my way through healthcare from the floor up.

That experience is a big part of why violence prevention matters so much to me. I’ve seen what happens when warning signs are missed, when nurses are left to handle situations alone, and when violence gets dismissed as ā€œpart of the job.ā€

It isn’t.

And this Sunday, we’re dropping something that could shake up the nursing industry.

Stay tuned. You’re going to want to see this.
