That's a wrap. πŸ™ŒπŸ½ Today marked the official last day of our mission β€” back to the hospital one final time for rounds, checking in on our patients, and packing up all our equipment to ship back to the US.
But before we go, we want to shine a light on the people who rarely get the spotlight but make every single surgery possible:

🩹 Our PT team β€” the ones who turn a successful surgery into a successful recovery, walking patients through pain and progress every step of the way.

🧼 Our sterile processing team β€” the hands that clean, sterilize, and prep every single instrument we use. No OR runs without them. No surgery happens without them.

πŸ’™ Our donors β€” the ones who make this mission possible before we even step off the plane. Every instrument, every supply, every flight β€” funded by people who believe in this cause. You may never see a single surgery, but you're in every single one.

πŸ₯ Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro β€” a heartfelt thank you for opening your doors to us and partnering with us every step of the way. This mission simply doesn't happen without your hospital, your staff, and your incredible generosity.

80 surgeries. Countless lives touched. And none of it possible without every person behind the scenes.
Thank you to this entire team β€” the surgeons, the PTs, the instrument processors, the coordinators, the donors, and the entire Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro family. This mission was never about one person. It was about all of us. πŸ™πŸ½

Today we wrapped our final day β€” rounds, patient check-ins, and packing everything up to head home. But this moment belongs to more than just the surgical team.

To our PTs who guided recovery, our sterile processing team who make every OR possible, our donors who fuel this mission from the very start, and Obras Sociales del Santo Hermano Pedro for welcoming us with open arms β€” thank you. πŸ™πŸ½

80 surgeries. One incredible team effort.

πŸŽ‰ 80 surgeries down πŸŽ‰β€” mission accomplished! πŸ™Œ
But we're not done yet. While the surgical marathon is complete, our work here continues. One more day on the ground for rounds, physical therapy, and getting our patients safely discharged home.

Every step matters β€” from the OR to recovery to that walk out the door. Stay tuned as we close out this incredible trip the right way. 🩺✨

He's the guy who oversees ALL our surgeons... but today, HE's the one in the OR. πŸ”₯

Dr. Gustke doesn't operate often β€” he's too busy making sure every other surgeon on our team is at their best. But when he does step in? It is most definitely a moment worth watching. πŸ‘€

That's what unwavering dedication and leadership looks like β€” always ready, always watching over every detail, and never afraid to step in and get his hands dirty when it counts.

That's leadership. That's trust. That's Dr. Gustke. πŸ™Œ

Hands tell the whole story today. πŸ™Œ

A hand getting cleaned as its getting ready to perform a miracle. A nurse's hand resting on a shoulder before the anesthesia takes hold. A family member's hands, held tight in the hallway, waiting.
These are the hands that traveled thousands of miles carrying equipment instead of suitcases. The hands that will replace knee after knee after knee this week, giving people back the ability to walk again WITHOUT pain β€” often for the first time in years. The hands of surgeons who took time to be here. The hands of nurses who've done this so many times they move like one team, even across language barriers.

You won't see every face in this video. But every hand belongs to someone β€” a surgeon steadying a scalpel, a patient gripping their walker taking steps with their new knee, a hand reaching for a loved one's on the other side. Behind each one is a person who showed up, gave something, or is waiting to walk again.
This is what Operation Walk looks like up close. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡Ήβœ‹

Two patients. Two stories. One life-changing week. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡ΉπŸ’™

Behind every surgery is a day like this one. Screening, charting, scheduling, and building operating rooms from empty space. Guatemala, day two.

Before a single incision, there was a blessing.

Day one of working in Guatemala. Our surgeons ran clinic and met the patients they'll care for this week β€” men and women who have lived with knee pain for years, some for decades. Our team turned empty rooms into fully equipped operating theaters.

Then they got to work. Ten surgeries before the day was done.
