Next Chapter Support Services and Becomingly Partner to Bring Financial Literacy to Teens and Adults with Disabilities
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 15, 2026
Palm Coast, Florida — Next Chapter Support Services, in partnership with Becomingly, hosted today’s August Life Skills Workshop - Decode Your Dollars, providing teens and adults with autism and related intellectual and developmental disabilities with practical financial literacy skills designed to promote greater independence and confidence in everyday life.
Guest presenter Priscilla Henry guided participants through essential financial skills, including creating and managing a budget, saving for future needs and wants, recognizing financial risks, and making safer, more informed decisions about money.
Henry emphasized the importance of providing people with disabilities with direct, meaningful instruction in the skills they need to navigate everyday life.
“I’m a strong advocate for making sure people with disabilities are actually taught the skills they need, not just expected to somehow figure them out. That applies to reading, financial literacy, employment, and everyday life. I’m so grateful to Next Chapter Support Services for giving me the opportunity to work with their members on becoming stronger readers and more financially aware. It was especially rewarding to see those ‘ah-ha’ moments as we talked about things like recognizing scams and making safer financial choices. When we use clear, explicit instruction and meet people where they are, we give them a real opportunity to learn, grow, and participate more fully in their communities.”
— Priscilla Henry, Guest Presenter and author of "Decode Your Dollars"
The interactive workshop focused on making financial concepts accessible, practical, and relevant to participants’ everyday lives. Through education and hands-on learning, participants explored ways to better understand their finances, recognize potential scams, plan for future needs and wants, and make informed financial choices.
Next Chapter Support Services is grateful to Becomingly for collaborating on this important initiative and to Priscilla Henry for sharing her expertise and creating meaningful learning experiences for participants.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that teens and adults with autism and related intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to the knowledge, instruction, and opportunities needed to build greater independence and participate more fully in their communities.
