We are proud to have any and all departments carrying the Brookie’s Box. But, Deltona Fire Rescue is one we really take pride in. This department takes caring and providing services to the next level for those with sensory processing disorders and anyone for that matter!

For Autism Awareness Month our crews are wearing special shirts to help raise awareness and show our support. Did you know each of our Deltona Fire Engines and Medic Units carry Brookie's Box? These amazing boxes are made by Brookie's Boxes and are filled with all sorts of little goodies to help our patients with sensory processing disorders calm themselves and provide them with better ways to communicate with crews.

Each of our stations also has stickers available for families to alert first responders in an emergency situation that there is someone inside with autism.
Stickers should be placed in a highly visible area on your home or vehicle. The rear window of your car and near the front door of the residence are ideal locations.
Supplies are limited, first come first serve. Limit of three per family.

This is so exciting!!! Special thanks to Volusia Sheriff’s Office Mike Chitwood and also the amazing team at Easterseals Northeast Central Florida.

Easterseals Northeast Central Florida donated Brookie's Boxes to the Volusia Sheriff's Office, with items that are meant to calm and/or stimulate an individual with special needs, especially sensory processing issues and on the Autism Spectrum, in a stressful situation. The Sheriff's office also provides Autism Decals to place on your home or vehicle to help alert first responders to the possible presence of someone with autism who may not react or respond to questions or verbal commands in the same way as others. You can order a decal at https://www.volusiasheriff.org/autism.stml

Special thanks to Easterseals Northeast Central Florida and DeLand Fire Department for working together to support this resource locally.

Thank you to the Easterseals Northeast Central Florida for dropping off several "Brookie's Boxes" off to Fire Station 81!

Initially implemented by Flagler County Fire Rescue's Lt. Jon Moscowitz after his daughter was diagnosed with autism, Brookie's Boxes are meant to calm, soothe or distract an individual with special needs such as autism or sensory processing disorders.

These boxes will be kept on our trucks and used to engage with children or adults during stressful events in which we are called to.

There is truly nothing more fulfilling than this! Knowing that we played a role in providing this resource to these providers and touched the lives of this young boy is the greatest gift we could’ve ever asked for. Feel better Alex! Special thanks to this crew and Captain Harper over at Putnam County Fire Rescue for being such rockstars and and advocates for the public they serve.

Interlachen ~ Everyone meet Alex, help us make him Facebook famous! Rescue 82 and District 72 responded to a call to help him out today. No worries, he’s doing fine! Alex has autism, loves Minecraft and his Siamese cat. He was a big fan of our Brookie's Boxes. The boxes were made by Lt. Moscowitz from Flagler County Fire Rescue and contain sensory items to help relax patients with autism when encountering emergency personnel. We are thankful enough to have these boxes because of generous donors.

A big thank you to Alex’s mom who’s a follower of our page and gave us permission to post his story! We look forward to hearing back about how he is doing!
