Fall & Winter Maintenance for Florida's Historic Homes hosted by Scott Sidler, Founder, Austin Historical

Florida's brief window between hurricane season and the next humid summer is the only time historic homes get a real chance to recover. Miss it and you carry the failures forward — wet wood, cracked stucco, lead-laden paint flaking onto soil where kids play, sill plates eating themselves alive under perfect-looking porch decks - the list goes on.

This session walks practitioners through the seasonal inspection and maintenance priorities that actually move the needle on Florida's pre-1945 building stock. The course is built around four field-validated failure modes that drive the majority of avoidable structural and health-related damage we see in historic homes statewide: water management failures, masonry envelope deterioration, lead paint hazards during repair work and grade-level wood rot. Participants leave with a working checklist they can use on site visits, condition assessments and client walkthroughs!
