Students4H2O was established in Martin County with the mission to enhance education, stewardship, and citizenship for all students in our community. We believe every individual matters and a sustainable community will lead to a sustainable planet by following the mission of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By doing so, we strive to empower our children by saving the Earth, one student at a time.

Citizens4H2O/Students4H2O started with three high school students, a shared vision to raise awareness and funds for the global water crisis, and a Director of Public Works who believed in us from the very beginning.

If you had the honor and privilege of knowing Mr. David Peters, then you knew his deep love and passion for StuartLife - The City of Stuart, Florida and the community he so proudly served.

I will never forget the first time I met Mr. Peters and shared my vision of raising awareness for the global water crisis while creating opportunities for environmental education in our community—especially through experiences like Water Fest that inspire the next generation. I remember thinking, how cool is it that I’m meeting with the Director of Public Works? He was a gentle giant—someone whose presence brought both strength and kindness into every space he entered.

Our organization would not have been what it was without his support. Because of him, we were able to make a meaningful impact—collaborating with the City of Stuart on initiatives like Water Fest, the Plastic Bag Initiative, and Cigarette Butt Recycling, while also helping to mobilize environmental education throughout our community.

He believed deeply in protecting our environment and in the power of people coming together to create change. His dedication and passion touched so many lives in our community, and he continues to be an inspiration to me.

As our final act as a non-profit, our Board of Directors voted to sponsor a well in South Sudan through Water for South Sudan, Inc. There was no question in my mind what it should be named.

Located at Aker Akuok Hospital in Warrap State, South Sudan, this well stands in memory of Mr. Peters—with deep gratitude for the impact he made on our community, our environment, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind for generations to come.

Because of him, clean water will change lives—and his impact will be felt for generations in ways we may never fully see. 💙💧🙏🏻

This is for you, Mr. Peters. Thank you for always believing in us.
