Buddy Bear Weekend is a yearly fund raising event that collects brand new stuffed bears for children in trauma. These bears are distributed to Local County Police, Firemen, Sheriff Departments, EMS and Hospital Trauma Centers. These First Respondents give a new teddy bear to those children that are involved in an accident and / or are involved in a traumatic event and need comfort and care. The pu

rpose of giving these bears when a child is involved is to have the child try and focus on the bear rather than the problem or incident at hand. This year, it is over 20,000 square feet of information and activity that consists of Child Safety, Literacy & Education, Health, Fitness & Nutrition and Going Green. This year, the event is being held at the State-Of-The-Art Civic Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida...the midway point between Sebastian and North Tequesta Florida which comprises the North end and South end of The Treasure Coast's Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties. The Buddy Bear Parade with the Elementary, Pre-School and Home-School Children of the Treasure Coast will be part of the Opening Day Ceremonies on Friday, November 18, 2016. All Schools that participate in the Buddy Bear Parade will each have their School Banner proudly displayed at the Parade with the children forming the parade line behind their school banner. The Playing of The National Anthem and The Pledge of Allegiance will precede the Buddy Bear Parade. The Parade will end at the entrance of The Buddy Bear Den where we will have the formal proclamation read and the ribbon cutting ceremony. The School Children, their parents, teachers and schools will be the First people entering the beautiful, educational and interactive Buddy Bear Den. Buddy Bear Weekend is charitable, educational and highly interactive with one message in mind: Keeping our children, safe, secure, healthy, fit and educated.
