Established in 2001, Hobe Sound Animal Protection League (HSAPL) is a no-kill feline rescue and adoption organization located in Palm City, Florida. HSAPL operates as a 501c(3) non-profit organization. HSAPL is dedicated to creating a better world for cats through adoption, spay/neuter services and public education. HSAPL's "home base" is at The Caring Fields Animal Sanctuary in Palm City, FL whe
re close to 200 cats live free from cages, in an open, yet protected, natural environment. Colorful cottages and cat shelters, built by volunteers, are found throughout the santuary. These buildings are custom-designed for the comfort of the cats with plenty of places to climb and explore and soft spots to nap in the Florida sunshine. Every cat under the care of HSAPL is spayed or neutered and vaccinated and many are available for adoption. Since 2008, HSAPL has facilitated more than 500 cat adoptions creating a happier world, not only for the cats, but also for the people who adopt them. Caring for 200 cats is a lot of work and HSAPL goes through hundreds of pounds of cat food and kitty litter every month. Two staff members and a team of dedicated volunteers feed and socialize the cats and keep the facilities clean, comfortable and safe 365 days a year. HSAPL is one of the only organizations in the state of Florida that provides care for cats with feline leukemia and feline AIDS. A special area of the sanctuary is designated for these cats, who can live happy, productive lives in spite of their diagnosis. Cats in the feline Aids/Leukemia campground are monitored for health issues. Medical care is provided, as needed, though most of the cats are completely asymptomatic. The cats in the feline AIDS and Leukemia campground are among the most friendly and personable at the sanctuary and many are available for adoption to people committed to maintaining a one cat household and with the resources to provide for their medical care. Thanks to a gift from a generous donor, a new on-site cat Care Center will open in 2012. The Care Center will provide basic medical care and wellness services for the feline residents at Caring Fields. HSAPL is a self-funded, charitable organization that depends completely on the generosity of donors. HSAPL does not receive grants or money from the government to operate. Each year, volunteers orchestrate several major fundraising events and generous donors come forward with financial support to keep the organization operating. HSAPL gratefully welcomes donations in any amount. If your life has been touched by the love of a special cat friend, please donate to HSAPL. Together, we can create a better world for our feline friends.
