When students are trusted with difficult history, something powerful happens – they stop seeing it as the past and start seeing it as a responsibility.

HEAL, a program of inSIGHT Through Education, creates space for middle and high school students to explore the Holocaust through survivor testimony and education, then take that knowledge back into their schools through peer-led advocacy projects focused on empathy, awareness, and action.

To date, 400+ students across Palm Beach County have participated in HEAL. Many return year after year – not because they have to, but because they understand what's at stake.

Randi Posner’s extraordinary volunteer leadership and dedication have helped bring meaningful educational experiences to thousands of students across Palm Beach County.

Through her commitment to supporting programs such as The Whispering Town, The Sneetches, Hana’s Suitcase, All Are Welcome Here, and Flutters of Hope: Kindness Butterflies, 8,175 students from kindergarten through middle school were reached in 2024-2025 alone.

Randi’s passion for education and community impact continues to help students engage with important lessons about empathy, kindness, human connection, and understanding the consequences of hatred and intolerance.

We are deeply grateful for the lasting difference she continues to make in our schools and community.

The building blocks of empathy are laid early.
Through Tales of Togetherness, funded by inSIGHT Through Education, first-grade students explore friendship, empathy, kindness, and understanding differences – in ways they can genuinely connect with at their age.

Using stories like The Crayon Box That Talked and Big Al brought to life as interactive puppet shows, students learn that everyone has value, that our differences can make communities stronger, and that small acts of kindness can have a big impact on the people around them.

These early learning experiences help build the emotional foundation for how students understand and treat others – both inside and outside the classroom.

The earliest years of a child's education are also the most formative.

Through age-appropriate programs funded by inSIGHT Through Education, kindergarten students engage with foundational lessons about friendship, kindness, and respect – through storytelling, puppet shows, and interactive experiences designed for where they are developmentally.

These early experiences help students build the foundation for how they understand and treat the people around them – both inside and outside the classroom.
Because teaching kindness isn't a one-time lesson. It's a language we help children learn from the very beginning.

They do not have to come. No one asks it of them. No one expects a person who survived the Holocaust to spend their later years revisiting some of the most painful memories of their lives.

And yet, they come.

They come to schools across South Florida and sit before rows of young faces. They speak about what it meant to be a child when the world turned against them. About parents separated at train platforms. About fear so constant it stopped feeling like fear. About being the only one in their family to survive.

They do it because they understand something most of us spend our whole lives hoping not to learn: that silence has consequences. That hatred, left unanswered, does not stay small.

This year, thousands of students — and the children of Survivors who carry their parents' memories forward — sat in schools across South Florida and heard the words, I was there. For many, it was the first time history had ever felt real.

"Hearing directly from Survivors changed everything. It wasn't just history anymore; it was someone's life. It made me realize that standing up for others isn't optional. It's our responsibility." — Student, Western Pines Middle School

On World Holocaust Survivor Day, we honor them with the only tribute that truly matters: the promise to remember, to share their testimony, and to carry their legacy forward — for as long as we can, and long after they are no longer able to bear witness themselves.

To every Survivor — and to the Second Generation keeping their stories alive — who has ever sat before a student and said, "I was there": thank you. Your courage makes ours possible.

For 15 years, Ibby Lucas has brought her passion, creativity,
and generosity to inSIGHT Through Education in a truly extraordinary way.

The Salton Spirit of Service Award is presented to a volunteer who reflects the spirit of service embodied by founding board members of inSIGHT Through Education
and Holocaust Survivors, Ruth and George Salton.

What began as a simple request – to bake rugelach for a boutique fundraiser – quickly became a cherished tradition. Year after year, Ibby has dedicated countless hours to baking, with all proceeds supporting Holocaust education programs that reach students across our community.

During the challenges of COVID-19, Ibby’s commitment never wavered. From her own driveway, she created a space for connection and giving – selling more than 400 bags of rugelach and donating every dollar to support inSIGHT’s mission.

Her efforts go far beyond fundraising. Ibby embodies the spirit of generosity and purpose that defines our work. Through her time, energy, and unwavering dedication, she has helped ensure that meaningful Holocaust education continues to reach students year after year.

Ibby Lucas reminds us that impact is also measured in consistent, heartfelt contributions that strengthen a community over time.

The Kindness Social Media Contest was created with a simple but powerful idea: if social media can influence culture, it can also be used to inspire kindness, empathy, and respect.

Introduced through the vision and generosity of the Mendez Family Foundation, the contest invited students to use the very platforms they engage with every day to confront antisemitism, bullying, and hate through creativity and positive messaging.

Recognizing the growing influence technology and social media have on young people, the Mendez Family believed it was important to meet students where they are– and empower them to use their voices with purpose.

The result was far more than a contest. It became an opportunity for students to lead conversations, challenge hatred, and remind others that even online, words matter.

Through their videos and messages, students showed that social media can be more than entertainment – it can be a tool for awareness, compassion, and change. 💙
