American Dog Rescue No Healthy Dog Without A Home! http://americandogrescue.org/ In 2005, Arthur Benjamin was deeply disturbed by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for animals.

Thus, Arthur and his five-pound adopted poodle, Buddy, co-founded American Dog Rescue to place healthy dogs in permanent homes that are the right fit for the animal and its family. American Dog Rescue is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to finding a home for every adoptable dog in the United States. ADR is unique in its commitment that 100% of all donations go to the animals.

A Delta flight made an unexpected stop because of a medical emergency involving a dog, not a human passenger.

The 2025 flight was traveling from Detroit to Los Angeles when the dog became seriously unwell about an hour after takeoff. The plane was redirected to Minneapolis so the animal could receive medical attention.

After the crew asked whether a veterinarian was on board, a passenger with veterinary experience stepped forward. Based on the vet’s recommendation, the captain chose to land early. Medical workers were waiting when the aircraft arrived to assist the dog and its owner.

The captain later told passengers that the dog was expected to recover. Although the diversion added roughly two and a half hours to the journey, many travelers supported the decision.

Pit bulls and rottweilers will no longer be singled out as dangerous dog breeds in the city of Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Common Council unanimously voted to amend the city's animal code to say an animal's behavior determines if it's dangerous, not its breed.

🇺🇸 The Fourth may be over, but the fireworks aren’t.

Many communities continue celebrating throughout the holiday weekend, and for our dogs, that often means another night of loud booms, flashing lights, and stress.

A few reminders to help keep your best friend safe:

🐾 Keep them indoors during fireworks.
🏡 Create a quiet, cozy space away from windows.
🎵 Turn on the TV, a fan, or calming music to help mask the noise.
🦴 Offer a favorite toy, treat, or frozen enrichment to keep them occupied.
🏷️ Double-check that ID tags and microchip information are up to date—more pets go missing during this holiday than almost any other time of year.
🚫 Please leave pets at home if you’re heading out to watch fireworks.

A little preparation can make a big difference for our four-legged family members. ❤️

Stay safe, and give your pups an extra cuddle from all of us at American Dog Rescue.

It doesn't have to be a hot day. A 70-degree afternoon feels mild to you. Inside a parked car with the windows cracked, it reaches 89 in ten minutes.

Your dog starts closer to the danger line than you do. Her normal body temperature is already 101. She cools herself almost entirely by panting — pulling air across her tongue. When the air inside the car is hotter than her body, the system stops working. There's nothing left to cool with.

Cracking the windows changes the interior temperature by less than four degrees. The glass traps heat faster than the gap releases it.

🐾 The rule:

- Above 65 degrees — the dog stays home. Not in the car with water. Not with the windows cracked. Not with the engine running. Home.

The ten minutes you planned is the twenty minutes you actually take. She doesn't have the difference 🐾
