Y'all, meet Luna and Puddy. πŸ–€πŸ€

Their person passed away back in August, and his family reached out because these two girls needed somewhere soft to land. So Thursday, our North Division Lead Jennifer Starr went and got them.

And here's the part that got me. They were hiding under his recliner when she arrived. And right there next to them was his cellphone. The man spent his whole career in IT at Verizon β€” and I swear it felt like he left the phone there on purpose, like "here, take it from here." A handoff. No crying, but I got full-body chills. We all took it as a sign.

We thought they were 14. Plot twist: Luna is 12 and Puddy is 9. They're not seniors, they're just entering their Golden Girls era. And get this β€” they share the same birthday, November 1st, three years apart. Birthday twins. πŸŽ‚

They went straight to Ark North with Mister Mike, and y'all... that man took one look at Puddy and melted into an actual puddle. She was in his arms within minutes. Luna's the brave one, already exploring. Puddy's still deciding whether she trusts us, but she's letting Mike hold her, so I'd say the jury's coming back with a yes.

Now the honest part: they might not stay with us forever. There's some microchip paperwork being sorted out that could mean a transfer down the road. But right now? They're decompressing in their own bathroom suite, they're safe, they're loved, and they're Ark girls for as long as they need us to be.

Welcome to the Ark, Luna and Puddy. You are safe now. You are loved. πŸ–€

πŸ’œπŸŒˆ In Loving Memory of Jasmine

Today at 1:30 PM, Jasmine crossed the rainbow bridge after 14 beautiful years with the Starr Crew.

From a teenage girl to the woman she is today, Liz and Jasmine grew up together. Twelve years of memories, companionship, and a love that will forever be part of their story.

Jasmine was deeply loved, right until the very end. May the memories she leaves behind bring comfort to everyone who loved her.

Rest easy, sweet Jasmine. Your pawprints will forever remain on the hearts you touched. πŸΎπŸ’œ

Please keep Jennifer, Liz, and the entire Starr Crew in your hearts. ❀️

LIKE the original post were 16 LIKES away from showing you the goodies!!

πŸ’œ This is a post I don't want to make, but in the rescue world, it's a necessary part of what we do.

Jasmine has been part of the Starr Crew for 14 long years. She was a special girl, given to Jennifer Starr as an anniversary present in 2012, and she has spent those years surrounded by love.

Over the last month, Jasmine has declined due to her age, and she's getting close to the bridge. She's receiving comfort care, lots of pets, and all the Churus her mommy can give her. πŸ’œ

Loss is a normal part of rescue, but that doesn't mean it gets easier. When an animal has been loved for this long, the bond is so special, so pure, and so hard to put into words.

As heartbreaking as this is, we find comfort in knowing Jasmine has spent her last years indoors, safe, loved, and spoiled. That's what matters. She has known love, and she will continue to feel that love until it's time to say goodbye.

We may not be able to save them from getting old, and we can't keep them with us forever, but we can make sure they know what it feels like to be safe and loved.

Please say a little prayer for sweet Jasmine and Jennifer as they navigate this difficult time. Pray for comfort, peace, and gentle days ahead, and that Jasmine continues to feel all the love surrounding her. We know how hard these moments are, and we hope they feel that love and support from all of us. πŸ™πŸ’œ

We send all our love to Jennifer and the entire Starr Crew. Please keep them and sweet Jasmine in your thoughts and prayers. πŸΎπŸŒˆπŸ’œ

Okay I'm gonna cry πŸ₯Ή

Roxanne did it again. $25 to kick off the "General Medical Fund", just like that. That woman never misses. πŸ€žπŸ’―

And one of our Pinewood 6 faithfuls sent kitten kibble, wet food, AND dental treats β€” plus a brand new donor sent litter!

Listen. Nothing goes to waste around here. Your cat looked at that kibble like you insulted his mother? Cool, I got 50 cats who will inhale it. Dental treats yours won't touch? Somebody's about to have the mintiest breath in Brevard. Random litter sitting in your garage? Say less.

Thank you guys. Seriously. This is what keeps us going. πŸ’œπŸΎ

Y'all, I'm just gonna be real with you for a minute. πŸ’”πŸΎ

I'm tired. I'm stressed. And I'm trying my absolute hardest to keep this rescue afloat, but damn, y'all. WE NEED HELP.

Between Ark North and Ark South, we have 46 CATS IN OUR CARE. FORTY-SIX. 😭

That's 46 mouths to feed, litter boxes to clean, medical needs to cover, and little lives depending on us to show up for them every single day.

And we're showing up. Even when we're trying to figure out where the money is gonna come from.

Enya's FIP treatment alone has put us over $1,400 in medication and vet expenses, and we're STILL not done. We need another $114 for her medication and approximately $200 for her labs.

Now we have Snickers, our S-walking kitty, who needs a vet evaluation to figure out what's going on with him.

And that's just TWO of the cats in our care. The other 44 still need food, litter, and everything else that comes with caring for them.

Y'all, I'm working a temporary job making $16 an hour, driving to Viera every day, raising my kids, trying to pay my household bills, AND trying to keep this rescue going. And when Election Day comes, that job ends.

My board members and I are paying for things out of our own pockets because when a cat needs help, we do what we can to make it happen.

But I'm gonna be honest. WE ARE STRUGGLING. BAD.

Every time I think we're gonna get ahead, something else happens. Every time I think I can put money toward getting our 501(c)(3), another cat needs something, and that money goes right back into the rescue.

Because damn the paperwork when there's a living, breathing animal that needs help RIGHT NOW. I'm gonna choose the cat every time.

But we can't keep doing this on our own. We just can't. πŸ’”

I'm not asking anybody to fund this entire rescue. I'm asking our community to PLEASE help us carry some of this weight.

πŸ’œ Got $1? Donate it.
πŸ’œ Got $5? We appreciate it.
πŸ’œ Can't donate? PLEASE SHARE THIS POST.

I'm serious when I say every little bit helps. Fifty cents plus fifty cents makes a dollar. And a whole bunch of people giving a little can make a BIG difference.

πŸ‘‡ PLEASE HELP US KEEP THE ARK AFLOAT.

Y'all, these aren't just numbers to us. These are cats we've taken responsibility for. Cats who deserve to be fed, cared for, and given a chance.

We're a small rescue, but we're doing BIG work with what little we have.

We have an amazing team. We have some truly incredible supporters. And we've made it this far because people have stepped up when we've needed them.

Right now, WE NEED YOU TO STEP UP AGAIN.

If you've ever shared one of our posts, cheered us on, donated, or rooted for what we're trying to build, please help us get this in front of more people.

I'm trying my hardest here, y'all. We all are. We're not giving up on these cats, but we desperately need some help keeping everything moving.

DONATE IF YOU CAN. SHARE IF YOU CAN'T. PLEASE DON'T JUST SCROLL PAST. πŸ˜πŸ’œπŸΎ

We are better together. And right now, The Ark REALLY needs its angels. ❀️

As a God-fearing woman, I've learned that the love of Christ has no boundaries. No limits. And most certainly, no restraint.

People seem to forget that Jesus didn't spend His ministry chasing the approval of the perfect congregation. He went into the wilderness. He sat with sinners, tax collectors, the rejected, the outcasts, the sexually immoral, the Gentiles, and those society considered dirty, unholy, and unworthy of God's love.

He loved people the religious world wanted nothing to do with.

He showed compassion where others showed condemnation. He extended grace where others demanded punishment. He reached for the very people others were too righteous to touch.

And let's not forget that it was religious authority, threatened by His message and His influence, that played a role in handing Him over to be crucified.

So perhaps, before today's churches spend so much time deciding who deserves love, who deserves grace, who belongs in their pews, and who is too far gone for redemption, they should look inward and ask themselves a very uncomfortable question:

Why did Jesus keep going after the people the religious establishment kept pushing away?

Why was He criticized for the company He kept?

Why did He show mercy to the broken while the self-righteous stood around keeping score?

Maybe the question isn't whether those people are worthy of sitting in God's house.

Maybe the question is whether we've forgotten what God's house is supposed to represent.

I'm a God-fearing woman. And I will never believe that loving people, showing compassion, or extending grace to someone society has cast aside makes me less faithful.

Jesus never told us to become gatekeepers of His love.

He called us to love our neighbors. To show mercy. To care for the least of these.

You don't have to agree with someone's life to treat them with dignity. You don't have to understand someone's journey to show them compassion. And you sure as hell don't have to condemn someone to prove your faith.

The love of Christ was never meant to be a reward for the righteous.

It was an invitation to the broken, the lost, the searching, and the forgotten.

And that invitation was never ours to revoke. ❀️

Goodnight, Waywards! πŸŒ™πŸΎ

Apparently, getting up to p*e at 4 a.m. constitutes officially reporting for duty.

Management does not recognize the difference between being awake and being AVAILABLE. πŸ™„πŸ˜‚

Every follow and share helps us help more wayward cats. ❀️🐾

Tonight, I'm holding my kids a little tighter.

Because today, a little child from our school didn't make it home.

This isn't some tragedy happening somewhere far away that we read about and then move on from.

This is our school.

Our teachers.
Our faculty.
Our parents.
Our children.

This little one was a classmate, a student, a familiar face in the halls of a place where our children are supposed to learn, laugh, grow, and come home to us at the end of the day.

And even if you weren't there when it happened, even if your child wasn't in that classroom, you still felt it.

I opened that message from the school today and it absolutely shattered me.

I'm not going to pretend I'm okay. I'm nauseous. I'm heartbroken. I'm sitting here looking at my own children and feeling incredibly grateful that they are here beside meβ€”and simultaneously devastated that another parent doesn't have that same gift tonight.

That is such a strange, painful place for a parent to sit.

Thank God it wasn't my child.

And then immediately:

God, please help the parents whose child it was.

Because I cannot imagine getting your child ready for school this morning, sending them out the door like you have a thousand other mornings, expecting them home...
..and then finding out they aren't coming home.

There is nothing I can say that makes that pain smaller.

So tonight, I'm praying.

I'm praying for that child's parents and family.

I'm praying for the classmates who witnessed something no child should ever have to witness.

I'm praying for the teachers and faculty who are hurting and trying to care for everyone else while carrying their own grief.

And I'm praying for our children as they try to understand why tomorrow won't feel like an ordinary school day anymore.

And maybe it's because I'm looking at the sky tonight through a mother's eyes, but I can't help feeling like the heavens are crying with us.

Like Heaven knows we've lost one of its little angels.

So tonight, please hold your babies.

Don't rush the bedtime hug.

Kiss their foreheads.

Listen to the stories that seem completely insignificant.

Tell them you love them.

Because today reminded all of us just how fragile this beautiful, ordinary thing we call life really is.

Tonight, our school community is hurting.

And somewhere tonight, a family is facing a pain no parent should ever have to know.

We may not be able to take that pain away. But we can pray. We can love. We can hold our babies tighter. And we can surround that family with every ounce of compassion this community has to give.

Rest peacefully, sweet angel. πŸͺ½πŸ’œ

May God hold you close, and may His angels surround your family tonight and carry them through what no parent should ever have to endure.

From our Ark family to yours: we are praying for you. πŸ™πŸ’”
