A Message From The Founder of Joey’s Fund

My family and I started this fund in honor of our son Joseph DeCarlo, who passed away from cancer in 1986 at the age of 2 1/2. At that time we were the luckiest family, as a result of an experimental treatment, we were able to have Joey in our lives for an additional year and a half! ho he did not have an opportunity to meet, but we are sure he is watching over her today, we are asking you to help us “play it forward” and provide assistance to those families who are faced with the challenges of taking care of a child with an illness. This fund is dedicated to easing the challenges that parents face when caring for a child suffering from life threatening illness. While insurance covers most medical expenses, there are so many unforeseen costs that are NOT covered. These expenses can include exorbitant insurance co-pays and prescription drug fees, lost wages due to missing work, gas, tolls, parking, food and other daily expenses. In an effort to provide relief to families suffering from these circumstances, my family and I are asking valued customers, friends, families and business owners for their sponsorship in helping us “play it forward”!
