Cori's Compassion Angels

Cori's Compassion Angels Cori's House is a nonprofit corporation working to prevent homelessness through early intervention and assistance to individuals and families at risk.

Mission Statement
Cori’s House is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing and relieving homelessness through financial assistance and other measures provided to vulnerable individuals or families. These include those who:
• Are experiencing housing transition due to personal financial crisis, job loss, medical emergency, eviction, or other critical life situations
• Unless given assistan

ce, would be required to relinquish family pets due to a forced move
Development Plan
Cori’s House will be developed in 4 phases. Phase 1, Start-up: The current start-up phase is a short period when a one-on-one crowd-funding site is being used to raise enough money to cover the cost of legal fees and paperwork required to establish Cori’s House as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Phase 2, Initial Fundraising: The second phase of development will be an initial fundraising drive aimed at establishing a long-term fund to (1) provide the day-to-day expenses necessary to run and maintain the business, including marketing and outreach, and (2) establish a fund through which financial assistance—for example, funding to provide temporary pet fostering or boarding, rent/back rent, employment agency fees, or legal fees—will be made available to those in transition and in danger of becoming homeless or unable to find affordable transitional or permanent pet-friendly housing to meet their immediate needs. It is estimated that this phase will last for approximately 6 months to 1 year and will include directed fundraising efforts and outreach as well as grant application aimed at developing a substantial fund to meet the anticipated demand for affordable and available housing for those in need. During this phase, organizational focus will be directed toward engaging and collaborating with other interested and involved agencies, including private housing providers and governmental outreach programs. Phase 3, Providing Housing: This phase will begin when a fund has been established that is sufficiently solid to meet the demand for financial assistance as well as to expand into other endeavors. Phase 3 will focus on continuing (1) to work with private housing providers, such as real estate/property management and private individuals, and (2) to invest in single and multi-family dwellings. The goal will be to provide temporary transitional homes for clients in need, for up to 6 months, until they can return to a more normal life situation on their own. Additionally, networking with employment agencies, schools, and child care agencies will be provided. Phase 4, Providing Work and Other Assistance: Simultaneously with Phase 3, Phase 4 will provide short-term work for clients living in transitional housing units, particularly when their financial situations do not initially include work. They will be employed by Cori’s House in construction, maintenance, and office duties.
