This evening, members of Altrusa International of Anderson County were joined by guests from the Palestine Junior Service League for a Service Social at the Palestine Community Food Pantry.
We had the opportunity to learn more about food insecurity in our community and then rolled up our sleeves to help. Together, we packed goody bags, sorted and bagged frozen items, and filled a buggy with more than 30 food bags for local families.
One of the highlights of the evening was hearing Kandy Meyers share that this was the first time a group had specifically asked for a session to learn about the pantry’s mission and stay to volunteer. She hopes it inspires other civic groups, churches, businesses, and organizations to do the same.
Serving together reminds us that even a few hours can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. ❤️
