🥰Mental & Emotional Wellness Routines😁:
📌Unstructured days can sometimes lead to anxiety or erratic behavior.
Use "chunked" Schedules or Routines (e.g., wake up, personal care, planned outdoor activity, screen time, bedtime) to provide a Sense of Stability. Because the structured school environment is gone, children may experience loneliness or anxiety; encourage emotional check-ins by asking them what made them smile or what felt hard.
⏱️Screen Time Limits⌚:
Establish Firm Boundaries. Unstructured time can lead to a surge in device usage. Limit video games and online activity, balancing it with offline Hobbies and Reading 📚.
😣Spotting Behavioral Shifts😞:
Look out for indicators of emotional distress like social withdrawal, loss of appetite, persistent irritability, or difficulty sleeping, which can signal that your child is struggling to verbalize their feelings.🫂
Daily Family Time: 🍽️Anchor the day with a set family Meal or an Activity so kids know they have a dedicated time to Connect.❣️
🏃🏼♀️Get Active & Boredom Busters:
📌Check your local library, parks, and recreation websites. 📌Look for Free or low-cost summer reading programs and summer camps to keep them stimulated.
Physical Wellness & Safety
🌞Sun & Heat Protection🥵:
Use Sunscreen with SPF 30+ and reapply every two hours.
10:am-4:pm can be the hottest part of the day, be mindful of heat exhaustion. Have a designated shaded area for outdoor play.
🚰Hydration💦: Establish a steady drinking routine. Children need up to (8-12) cups of water a day depending on age and activity level.
🌊Water Safety🏊🏿♂️: Always designate an adult "Water Watcher" who is free from phone or book distractions when kids are swimming.
🚴🏼♀️Bicycle & Scooter Safety🚴🏿♂️: Ensure your child wears a properly fitted helmet, which can significantly reduce the risk of head injuries.
