Roots Community Garden Roots Garden is a POC program for clients of the POC. This effort in Palatine IL. connects POC families in need to healthy foods and to their community.

Thank you to the families who came to help water the garden on Memorial Day. We had a wonderful discussion about recycling through our art project of painting milk jugs. The jugs will be re-used all summer to keep our garden beds watered.

Now we need your help! To crown a winner for "The Most Nature-like" and "the Most Colorful," we are asking for you to vote. We have four entries for this contest. Please vote with a Thumbs Up if you want to choose this entry for the "Most Nature-like" and please vote with a Heart if you want to choose this entry as the "Most colorful." The voting will close at 12PM on Thursday 5/27. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the garden on Thursday night between 5pm-7pm. Thank you!

A huge thank you to all of the families and to Holy Family's Faith and Racial Justice Team for coming out this evening to celebrate Roots Community Garden's 2026 Grand Opening!

We are so excited for what's in store for the garden site this summer. Please remember that staff will be on-site on Monday and Thursday nights this summer from 5PM-7PM.

We will post updates here on this page throughout the summer to remind you of special events and to alert you of any cancelations due to weather. We hope for this to be a wonderful summer for everyone and hope you consider coming back by to visit us again soon!
