🚨 Community Fire Safety Update – PVFD 🚨

Despite recent moisture, 2026 has already seen a 600% increase in brush fire callouts compared to this time last year.

So far this year, PVFD has responded to 7 fire-related calls:

6 were slash piles or controlled burns that got out of control
1 was caused by mechanical failure

At this rate, 2026 is shaping up to be a challenging fire season.

We’re asking everyone to do their part to help keep our community safe:

Pay close attention to weather conditions and humidity levels
Be aware of your surroundings before burning
Always have proper fire safety equipment readily available

Even though it’s still spring, fires are spreading quickly, and without significant moisture, this trend is likely to continue.

All services in paisley are back up and running on their normal systems. If a outage happens again PVFD is ready to deploy the system 24/7 to help keep our community functioning and safe. Thank you everyone for using the system we deployed appropriately and allowing the bandwidth to go where it was needed the most.

..RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 624 AND 625...

* AFFECTED AREA...In Oregon...eastern portions of fire zone 624 and fire zone 625. This includes the Fremont National Forest, including from Silver Lake southward to Bly, as well as most of Lake County.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms. Lightning strikes outside of precipitation cores are possible, and cause for concern for new fire starts.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusts of 35 to 55 mph could travel outward up to 25 miles from thunderstorm cores.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Follow all fire restrictions. You can find your county's emergency sign up form as well as links to fire restrictions at weather.gov/medford/wildfire. One less spark, one less wildfire.

Be sure you're signed up for your county's emergency alert system. Familiarize yourself with your emergency plan and make sure you listen to emergency services. Visit ready.gov/plan for more information.

A Red Flag Warning is issued when we identify weather conditions that promote rapid spread of fire which may become life- threatening. This does not mean there is a fire. These conditions are either occurring now or will begin soon. It is important to have multiple ways to receive information from authorities.

PVFD has deployed a Starlink system to help local businesses and the community stay connected during the ongoing service outage.

🛢 Fuel Available:
Fuel is now available at both the gas station and the card lock next to it.

💳 Card Payments Accepted:
The store, food trailer, and gas station are now accepting credit and debit cards. (we anticipate to connect the Pioneer Saloon tomorrow, as well as the Community Center)

📞 Emergency Calls:
These locations also provide access for emergency phone calls.

✅ You may use the Starlink system for essential needs such as:
Contacting family or loved ones to let them know you are safe

Making medical appointments or speaking with healthcare providers

Reaching employers or coworkers for job-related communication

Accessing online banking or managing urgent financial tasks

Any emergency-related communication

🚫 Please do not use the connection for:
Streaming movies or videos

Online gaming

Large downloads or recreational web browsing

This is a limited-bandwidth system, and we appreciate your help keeping it available for those who truly need it.

🚨🚨🚨PSA

As of 1715 hrs- the gas station and card lock next to the gas station are operational again for fuel.

PVFD has deployed a Starlink system for the businesses in paisley to continue operations. Not all businesses are fully operational as of yet but we are working to connect them.

At this time the store and food trailer are able to accept credit and debit cards as well as a place to make emergency phone calls until the regular systems are back up and running.

This is not to download movies or surf the web. This is limited bandwidth and for businesses and emergencies only thank you.

On Sunday 06/22/25 PFD, HDRFPA and our federal partners responded to a grass fire. The fire was stopped at 1/10 of a acre. This is a reminder that despite our snow pack, rains and cooler weather our brush and grass are still very dry and will readily ignite and carry flames. PFD responded with 2 engines a type 6 and type 7, HDRFPA responded with 1 type 3, and our federal partners responded with 1 type 3 engine and a chase. We work together across the board with our local, state and federal partners to keep fires as small as possible. PFD's response like this is made possible through grant funding from the Oregon State Fire Marshal
