End 68 Hours of Hunger Lake County, Ohio Ending childhood hunger in America, one school at a time!

End 68 Hours of Hunger is a private, not-for-profit, effort to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school on Friday afternoon and the free breakfast they receive in school on Monday morning.

SHOUT OUT to Moving Ahead Services!

Yesterday, they guys from Moving Ahead Services picked up 27 pallets of food for us from Sam’s Club . You might remember that we, along with our husbands used to do this. It is NOT a fun job. It is a ton of hard, back breaking, sweaty work. Some of these pallets weigh more than 2,000 each, and they have to be pulled through a doorway that wasn’t designed to fit a pallet! And somehow, you’d never know how hard the work is when these two come to the door! They show up with a smile, a great attitude, and a genuine willingness to help. They never complain, never make us feel like we’re asking too much, and are always ready to jump in and do whatever needs to be done.

Thank you for the hard work, the muscle, the kindness, and most importantly, for helping us make sure children in our community have food on the table.

We are incredibly grateful for you!

End 68 was invited to participate in the Volunteer Fair at the Youth Leadership & Service Conference for 9/11 Day at Lakeland Community College.

The conference brought together 200 students, educators, and community partners from across Northeast Ohio for a day of youth leadership, service, and civic engagement.

THe kids spent time putting together 240 “snack packs” for us at the Pop Up Service Project station. The snacks were purchased with a $1000 grant through Magnified Giving.

Thank you to everyone who made this End 68 service station possible, and especially Mark Soeder, and our friends at Perry Service Learning!

Before you donate, please take a moment to check the list below. While we’re grateful for every effort to help, some items unfortunately don’t work for our program.

🚫 Please DO NOT donate:

Glass containers
Expired food — food banks cannot distribute expired items
Oversized jars — please remember that some children need to carry these bags home
Non-food items
Pet food
Soups containing ghost pepper or hot peppers of any kind
Cream of soups (mushroom, celery)
Broth or gravy
Coffee
Condiments
Flour, sugar, salt, or pepper

Thank you for helping us make every donation count! Choosing items that work well for our program helps us get food into the hands of the children and families who need it most.

As we get ready for the 2026–2027 school year, we wanted to share that……

End 68 Hours of Hunger Lake County is celebrating our 12th year of supporting kids in our community!

You might be wondering when we plan to start our deliveries. We’re hoping to begin distributing our food bags by the end of September. Life has definitely been “lifeing,” lately (as the kids say 😂) but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready. Soon, we’ll be back to providing nutritious, tasty food bags to area schools for children who need a little extra support over the weekend.

Stay tuned! We’ll be sharing our official start date with everyone soon.

Thank you for continuing to support our mission, and the kids of Lake County. We’re so excited for another year!
