Before there was a new chapter, there was a passion for sharing what I knew.✨

These memories of leading train-the-trainer education at my California salon remind me why teaching means so much to me. Every technique shared can help another professional grow in confidence, and pass that knowledge on.

That same purpose continues to guide me: using beauty education to build skills, create opportunities, and help others see what is possible for their future.

I’m grateful for where this journey began and so excited about what’s ahead for Tu Organics Academy | Pahrump Cosmetology Tu Organics Academy.🌿

From Learning to Living the Lessons 🙏🏾🎓✨

Yesterday, I drove three and a half hours to return to a place that has given me so much: my alma mater.

From 2014 to 2020, my professors, friends, and mentors at California State University-San Bernardino shaped my life in ways I will carry with me forever. I returned to share my story in person and on Zoom, and I left a signed copy of ✨Tu Success! A Journey from Pain to Purpose✨ for the CSUSB Alumni Relations It is my heartfelt way of saying thank you as I step confidently into a new chapter.

This morning, reflecting on Philippians 4:9 reminded me to put what I have learned into practice. As I prepare to open Tu Organics Academy | Pahrump Cosmetology (Tu Organics Academy), I carry those lessons forward through faith, service, and the courage to begin.

I hope someone who heard my story yesterday left believing this: You don't need perfect conditions to pursue your dream.

You don’t need a million dollars, a large building, or every detail figured out. You need the willingness to take the first step, keep learning, and make the most of what you have.

My journey has taught me that where you start does not determine where you finish. With God leading the way, every step can bring you closer to your purpose.

Thank you, Cal State San Bernardino CSUSB, for helping shape the woman, entrepreneur, and educator I am today. I am blessed to call you my alma mater.💙

I went, I presented, and I conquered! 🙏🏾🎉

Today, the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology granted my variance petition for Tu Organics Academy’s pilot program in our 288-square-foot space, by a vote of four ayes and one nay! 🙌🏾

I prepared, practiced, and prayed. But being sworn in and presenting my vision made it all feel real. Afterward, I cried tears of joy, relief, and gratitude.

We will begin with four students, focusing on hair and nails, with a vision to one day grow into a 5,000-square-foot academy serving Nye County.💚

God, thank You for leading the way. Something bigger than me is becoming a reality, one prayer, one student, and one milestone at a time. ✨🙏🏾

Hello, October.💜

Looking back at last month’s NCEDSV three-day conference, I’m grateful for the conversations, connections, and learning I’m carrying forward.

As a domestic violence survivor, this work is personal. As founder of Tu Organics Beauty Academy Foundation, I’m working to help create pathways to education, mentorship, and career opportunities for others.

During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I want to encourage us to listen with compassion, respect each survivor’s choices, and consider how we can support their next steps.

Some days, purpose feels clear. Other days, it takes faith to keep going.

I’ve learned that you can carry a dream through uncertainty, setbacks, and seasons when no one else can see what you’re building. Then a moment of encouragement reminds you why you started.💚

When I became a licensed cosmetologist in California in November 2005, I didn’t yet know how many different spaces would shape my career. I later became licensed in Nevada in July 2020.

I rented a booth, opened a brick-and-mortar salon, and later moved into a salon suite. Each step strengthened my skills in client care, decision-making, and business building.

My approach to products evolved, too. I remember working with formulas whose fumes burned my eyes and nose. I began asking, “What am I bringing into this space, and how does it affect the people in it?” That question led me to explore plant-based options and choose my products more intentionally.

From January 2019 to May 2022, I taught cosmetology at Riverside City College Riverside City College. I’ve also taught business courses at Chaffey College Chaffey College. I valued the opportunity to share what I knew and learn from my students. However, working for larger institutions also taught me that being valued for your work doesn't always mean you have stability when circumstances change; you’re disposable.

That realization shaped what came next. I wanted to bring together everything I had learned about cosmetology and business, so I am building my own learning platform, Tu Organics Academy | Pahrump Cosmetology, sponsored by the Tu Organics Beauty Academy Foundation.

I want students at my Academy to leave with more than technical skills. I want them to recognize their choices, ask thoughtful questions, and see that they can build something of their own. Every turn in my career has given me knowledge I can pass on.💫

A new office for Tu Organics Beauty Academy Foundation!💚

With our cosmetology pilot program moving into our former foundation office in Pahrump, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit has relocated its office to Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas.

This new space will help us connect with and advocate for people in both Las Vegas and Pahrump. We’re excited to build new relationships with sponsors, donors, volunteers, and interns as our work grows.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Las Vegas office! ✨
