In our support of owners, we found that there were times when pets had to be rehomed due to owners health concerns or even passing away. Due to need, we also found that we would also need to constantly find new fosters to help. From this need, we developed a Forever Foster program for those willing and able to care for a pet they take into their homes. The Senior to Senior program offers additional support in that food, basic vetting and other services are provided for Seniors that might not be able to afford a pet but for which we have an older pet desperately in need of a home. Pets Are Worth Saving NEVER charges a fee for the placements - in fact, most of them are financially losing propositions. However, if the pet is able to find a loving home which is generally the wish of the dying (or worse) owner then the peace of mind that allows those in failing health to concentrate on themselves is worth it. Most of our pets are older. They are mostly fixed and UTD on shots unless for some reason it is a very young animal. For those few that are actually desirable/easy to adopt, we do ask that the new home contribute to the vetting as a show of good faith on their ability to handle young/active animals and the costs associated with the pet. New owners are welcome to use the vet of their choice to ensure that the animals are fixed and brought up to date of vaccinations.
