After sooo much on my plate the past 12 months, finally able to re-commit to WHH! Just in time as fire season has sadly started already!
For all those with horses, NOW is the time to prep! Evacuation Plans will be critical this year. For the next few weeks I’ll share ideas, suggestions and tools available to ensure you and your herd are well prepared.

Keeping sharp eyes on several fires in Colorado. The Colorado Springs blaze started early this morning while the Rabbit Valley Fire, which burns along the Colorado/Utah boarder, has reached 20% containment.

Updates on Pagosa Local fires. Looks like no humans, horses or homes affected to date but we’re keeping a close watch.

Keeping humans and horses in minds and hearts as we coordinate with local fairgrounds for evacuated horses due to the Bolt Creek Fire in Washington’s State.

Bolt Creek fire evacuees include a cadre of horses and ponies forced to spend a nervous night in barn stalls at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds.

While still very remote in the San Juan National Forrest, the Quarts Ridge Fire is growing fast in our dry windy conditions. Easily visible from Wildfire Horse Haven Pasture lands at Seminole Wind Ranch. No danger, no affects. For those interested in tracking our nations Wildforws. I recommend the Watch Duty:wildfire app! Free on app stores.

Despite the long hard winter, the dry June and July in southwest and western Colorado have led to additional wildfires.

The Lowline Wildfire is burning up Ohio Creek (County Road 730). The information on this fire is below.

If you are evacuating large animals, take them to the Gunnison County Fairgrounds 275 S Spruce St A, Gunnison, CO 81230. Please check in at the Fairgrounds main office.

Wildfire Horse Haven is coordinating with the Fairgrounds to offer overflow assistance should the need arise.

Ever so thankful on this Thanksgiving that Wildfire Horse Heaven is here for any Human and Horse in need. Even Smokey the Bear is part of the Macy’s Day Parade to remind us all…9 out of 10 wildfires are started by Humans.
