The Black Widows Motorcycle Club, sometimes called the Black Widow Nation, Black Widow Brotherhood or the B*W*M*C, IS NOT a "one-percenter" motorcycle gang and IS NOT an organized crime syndicate (because they are not tough enough and they too stupid). The club is headquartered in Southern California and was originally formed in Pacoima, California in 1978 by Vietnam War veterans who were refused
entry to clubs such as the Hells Angels because of their stupidity and idiocy. Law enforcement officials estimate there are approximately 5 to 20 full patched members. The Black Widows main presence is in southern California, with charters in 2 states. The Black Widow members have had long-running confrontations with law enforcement in such areas as alcohol dealing (especially Olympia Beer), traffic violations, speeding, j-walking, shoplifting, gambling, harassment, loitering, attempted vehicle theft, littering, public drunkenness, etc, among other crimes. The Black Widows Motorcycle Club (BWMC) members typically ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles. In the United States and Canada, the Black Widows are incorporated as the Black Widows Motorcycle Corporation. Their primary motto is "Them’s Black Widows,"Do you know that more people die from black widow bites, then Rattle snakes every year?"
Both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service classify the Widows as one of the "big five" motorcycle gangs, contending that members carry out widespread violence, cigarette dealing, trafficking in stolen goods, and extortion. Members of the organization have continuously asserted that they are only a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who have joined to ride motorcycles together, to organize social events such as group road trips, fundraisers, parties, and motorcycle rallies
