🎓 A Wonderful Day of Learning, Collaboration & Community!

On October 17, 2026, Proxy Parent Foundation (PLAN of California) proudly partnered with the University of West Los Angeles (UWLA) for our hybrid Lunch & Learn: Estate Planning for Special Needs Trusts.

🌟 Our presenters were phenomenal! Heartfelt thanks to Paulette Gray, Esq., Barbara Bergstein, Esq., Kizuwanda Walton, Esq. Carmen Bowen, MBA, and Carol Larkin, MA for sharing their expertise and empowering families and professionals with valuable information.

🏛️ Special thanks to UWLA President Robert Brown and the entire UWLA team for your partnership, warm hospitality, and beautiful facilities. We couldn't have asked for a better setting!

💙 A big shout-out to our Proxy Parent Foundation team—Carmen, Carol, Karen, Alvina, Jacob (intern), and Vincent (job coach) for helping make this event possible.

Although a technical issue prevented us from sharing a recording, presentation materials and resources have been provided to registrants.

💙 Connecting, Learning & Supporting NAMI in Anaheim!

What a wonderful experience at the NAMI California Annual Conference in Anaheim!

Proxy Parent Foundation was proud to participate as an exhibitor, sharing information about our Master Pooled Special Needs Trusts and Personal Support Services while connecting with mental health practitioners, NAMI affiliates, family members, and an impressive number of students from Cal State Fullerton!

One of the highlights was learning about NAMI Clubs at select high schools. We had the pleasure of speaking with Rueben, a delightful and knowledgeable 11th grader who enthusiastically shared the many benefits of having a NAMI Club at his school. How encouraging to see young people taking an active role in mental health awareness, education, and advocacy!

Our team—Carol Larkin, Director of Client Relations; Alvina Piloyan, our newest team member and Client Relations Representative; and Carmen Bowen, Executive Director—truly enjoyed the opportunity to learn, connect, and support the important work of NAMI.

We value our ongoing relationship with NAMI and its affiliates and look forward to continuing our shared commitment to supporting individuals and families in the mental health community.

🎨 Art, Community & Planning for the Future! 💙

We’re excited to join our friends at New Horizons for a fun-filled afternoon and evening on 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟰 at their Northridge Campus!

The day begins with the New Horizons Member Art Sale from 3:00–5:30 PM, featuring a wonderful selection of handcrafted items created by New Horizons members. Come out, shop, support their creativity, and celebrate their talents!

Then, from 6:00–7:00 PM, stay for Friends & Family, an opportunity to mingle, exchange ideas, connect with other families, and learn together.

We’re especially pleased that Carmen Bowen, MBA, Executive Director of Proxy Parent Foundation, will be the evening’s guest speaker, sharing information about Master Pooled Special Needs Trusts and the importance of planning ahead for the financial security and quality of life of loved ones with special needs.
