For many of us, the past year has been marked by loss, disruption, and long stretches of uncertainty. Recovery has not been quick or linear, and for many neighbors, it is still unfolding—or just beginning.
As we step into a new year, many of us are still holding onto small, broken pieces of home gathered from our lots - items we saved without quite knowing what to do with them, only that we weren’t ready to let them go. This workshop was created for that exact purpose.
Pieces of Home is a free, guided art workshop for individuals impacted by the 2025 LA wildfires. As part of our Hands That Heal program, the experience offers space to reflect on what home has meant, what was lost, and what participants want to carry forward into the next chapter.
Through a guided, hands-on process, participants will create a personal art piece using both provided materials and any meaningful items they choose to bring. The focus is not on artistic skill, but on preserving memory and meaning, while gently making room for what comes next.
We invite neighbors who have been carrying a lot this year to join us. This workshop is a chance to slow down, be with community, and transform what you’ve been holding onto into something tangible. Sometimes moving forward begins by creating space to reflect—together.
