Help Shape the Future of Topanga State Park and Will Rogers State Historic Park.

Following the Palisades Fire, which burned more than 8,000 acres in Topanga State Park and impacted Will Rogers State Historic Park, California State Parks has launched a public recovery planning process to guide the long-term restoration and resilience of these treasured public historic and natural spaces. The process will help determine how the parks are rebuilt, how historic and natural resources are preserved, and how the parks can best serve future generations.

Community members are invited to participate by sharing memories, photos, ideas, and feedback that will help shape recovery priorities and the parks’ future. Throughout 2026, California State Parks will host workshops, stakeholder meetings, surveys, and other opportunities for public input.

If these parks have been a meaningful part of your life, now is the time to make your voice heard!

The California Natural Resources Agency and California State Parks are conducting a statewide survey to better understand how Californians use, experience, and value trails and outdoor spaces. The survey takes as little as 5 minutes to complete and is open to all California residents. The survey closes this Monday, June 8.

Survey findings will inform two major statewide efforts: Climate Bond grant criteria, helping direct funding toward outdoor recreation priorities that reflect community needs across California and; Recreational Trails Plan update, helping shape the future of trail planning, investment, and outdoor access statewide

Every response and every share helps build a stronger, more complete picture of how Californians use and value trails and outdoor spaces.
