Two years in, Pacific Grove Cares continues to show what happens when a town chooses to tend itself—when neighbors, volunteers, and the City work side by side to make our shared spaces bloom.
This past year, our community breathed new life into three beloved places: 🌿 Chase Park West, restored with care. 🌸 Stillwell Garden at Caledonia Park, revived in charm. 🌼 The Community Center gardens, transformed into vibrant, welcoming spaces for all.
With the steady work of the Pickup Posse and the generosity of local donors and partners, Pacific Grove has earned recognition as an official Clean California Community—a testament to what shared stewardship can achieve.
To every donor, volunteer, and supporter: your hands, your heart, and your hope have helped our town flourish.
And so, as summer drifts toward autumn, we will gather. On Saturday, August 22, 2026, Pacific Grove Cares will host a celebration honoring everyone who has helped our community grow. A moment to stand together, look around at what we’ve created, and feel the quiet truth that when a community tends its own garden… the whole town thrives. Creating a garden one plant, shrub, or tree at a time might seem like a small thing. You might ask is it worth the effort? My answer is every flower that blooms, evergreen shrub or tree that grows does matter. The tree becomes shade to sit under, the flower a place for a bee, or dragonfly or butterfly to find nectar, and the evergreen shrub a way to hold the earth in place when the rain comes. Thank you to the amazing volunteers that have joined Pacific Grove Cares and tenderly care for the three gardens that were created for all to enjoy. And, while you tend to these gardens, friendships are forming that add beautiful meaning to our lives. You are creating a ripple effect that does matter.

Since last October 2025 Pacific Grove Cares volunteers have weeded and cleared old landscaping at the PG Community Center. In April 2026, our volunteers planted more than 200 shrubs and plants and 10 trees. The landscape plan was donated by a professional landscaper and our volunteers planted and now care for the renovated gardens that surround the building and are in the courtyard. Thank you to our donors who have funded this project and the dozens of dedicated Pacific Grove Cares volunteers who weeded, then planted and now tend the gardens. July 2025 Pacific Grove Cares the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon cutting to celebrate the renovation of the cornier of Ocean View and Jewell Ave at the west corner entrance to Lovers Point. Here is what it looked like in 2025 and here is what it looks like today. Thank you to the visionary donors who funded this project and the amazing Pacific Grove Cares volunteers who maintain it so it will continue to thrive. The beauty of a garden filled with a variety of plants can lift our mood and if we take a moment to sit and relax can provide a needed respite during a busy day. Come enjoy the Stillwell garden that sits just outside of Caledonia Park. See the before picture that contrasts with the current one. This garden was made possible last year July 2025 by Pacific Grove Cares and maintained by our volunteers, -it is flourishing. What a difference a year makes! Last October, Pacific Grove Cares volunteers started weeding and clearing dead brush from the Community Center gardens. In April our volunteers with expert guidance from a professional landscaper who had created the plans, placed more than 200 plants and 10 trees in the gardens that surround the building and are in the courtyard. Pacific Grove Cares volunteers now maintain these gardens watching over them as they grow. From the original young plants and trees, they will grow to fill in and fill out this space for all to enjoy.
