Pacific Grove Cares was awarded the Clean California Certification for our community of Pacific Grove, recognizing the efforts that have been undertaken to restore neglected landscaped spaces with vibrant gardens and benches to rest and visit with friends as well as the ongoing work of our volunteers to pick up trash and maintain these gardens. This recognition came after a year of reported volunteer work and accomplishments all made possible by the awesome work of our dedicated volunteers and the collaboration with our public works department. You can be a part of these ongoing efforts and join our merry crew by filling out the contact form on our website to let us know you want to volunteer or donate to support Pacific Grove Cares. www.pacificgrovecares.org

Fall has arrived - enjoy the changing of the seasons. Pacific Grove has a special charm in the fall - early morning fog that often burns off after noon to let the sun's rays shine through. The weather is especially good for a walk along our beach trail. Did you know that Pacific Grove Cares has a group of volunteers called the Pickup Posse that walk the trail, the parks, the business district streets, picking up trash to keep Pacific Grove Beautiful. We invite you to join us - it's easy and you can do it on your own schedule. Use the contact form on our website https://pacificgrovecares.org/ to let us know of your interest and we will supply you with the materials needed.

🌱 Growing Ideas, Growing Community 🌱

Every seed we plant at the Community Center starts small — just like every idea that becomes a brighter Pacific Grove. With a little sun, a little care, and a whole lot of heart, beautiful things grow.

Our volunteers have been tending the gardens with love, and the transformation is real. Want to see it? Visit pacificgrovecares.org to explore our project gallery and the before‑and‑afters from Chase Park West, Stillwell Garden, and the Community Center Gardens.

🌼 Donors: Your gifts help us restore more spaces, plant more beauty, and keep Pacific Grove blooming.

🌱 A Seussian Reflection on Growth, Ideas, and Community Care

In every seed that’s tucked in dirt,
A hope is placed — it doesn’t hurt —
That someday soon, with sun and rain,
A sprout will rise, then bloom again.

But planting’s just the starting cheer;
It needs some love throughout the year.
A splash of water, beams of sun,
A little care from everyone.

New plants are small, with space to spare,
So each can breathe the freshest air.
A wise volunteer once said it right:
“Give every plant its share of light,
Room to stretch and room to grow,
Branches reaching head to toe.”

And thoughts are just the same, you see —
A tiny spark, a small idea,
With time and space to germinate,
Can grow into something truly great.

So come and join our merry crew,
Where seeds of care are sprouting new.
Visit pacificgrovecares.org today —
Be a donor, volunteer, or help in your own way.

Together we’ll keep this town so fair,
Vibrant, loved, and tended with care. 💛🌿

🌱 In every seed planted, there’s a little hope tucked in with it — hope that those seeds will grow into something beautiful for all to enjoy. But planting is only the beginning. Growth takes water, sunlight, and care.

When new plants go into a garden, they’re small and spaced apart so they have room to thrive. One of our volunteers, a landscape professional, put it perfectly: “You want to give each new plant the optimum ability to absorb the sun and fresh air so the branches can reach out and grow well.”

Our best ideas work the same way. They start as tiny kernels of thought, and with the right space, exposure, and nurturing, they can grow into something that benefits the whole community.

🌼 If you’d like to help us plant, nurture, and grow a vibrant, well‑cared‑for Pacific Grove, visit www.pacificgrovecares.org to learn how you can join us as a volunteer or donor.

Together, we can help our community bloom. 🌿💛

🌱 The Joy of Gardening — Growing Community Together 🌱

For years, Master Gardeners Atticus and Cari Rotoli have shown what it means to lead by doing. Their work at Pueblo Del Mar in Marina helps families recovering from addiction and homelessness learn to grow food, build confidence, and reconnect with community. Alongside young adults from the Monterey County Workforce Development Board, they’ve transformed raised beds, restored garden spaces, and shared skills that support long‑term employment.

Their care multiplies. It strengthens families, empowers youth, and reminds us how much good can grow when people show up with open hands and open hearts.

🌼 And that same spirit lives here in Pacific Grove.
Pacific Grove Cares welcomes gardeners of all experience levels — from master gardeners to hobby gardeners to anyone who simply enjoys being outdoors and working side by side. Our volunteers tend three thriving community gardens, keeping them healthy, beautiful, and full of life.

We also have the Pickup Posse, a cheerful crew that keeps Pacific Grove clean by picking up litter as they walk through town. Small acts, big impact.

💛 Want to join us?
Fill out the contact form on our website and we’ll reach out. There’s a place for you here — in the garden, on the trail, and in this growing community of care.

Let’s keep Pacific Grove blooming. 🌿✨

Pacific Grove Cares loves to make our community spaces beautiful by planting gardens and picking up litter. We also love plants in our own gardens and in our homes,

Maybe you do too? And when we are tending to our gardens, we need water and some sun as well - just like plants do. But knowing just the right amount of water is also important in order for us and for our plants to thrive.

One of Pacific Grove Cares volunteers is also a bestselling author and expert on indoor plants and knows a thing or two about how to make sure they thrive. She has a new book coming out on the topic in January 2027. If you check the link on the book cover you can get a preview. Enjoy!
Congratulations Patricia Hamilton on your latest book! Thanks for all you do to create such a beautiful garden at our PG Post Office that surrounds the Butterfly children.
Whether you like to have house plants, a home garden or are willing to help us care for the three gardens PGCares has created around town, we invite you to join us. Visit www,pacificgrovecares.org to discover the many ways you can participate in our mission to Plant Beauty and Cultivate Community while we Keep Pacific Grove Beautiful.

Today is the first day of the fall equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, Tuesday, Sept 22, 2026, in the Northern Hemisphere, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Fall on the Central Coast (late September–November) offers warm, sunny days, clear skies, fewer crowds, and a rich mix of seasonal events and natural beauty, From September through November, the marine layer that dominates summer lifts, bringing highs in the 60s–80s°F, low humidity, and mostly clear skies. Mornings can still be cool, but fog burns off quickly, revealing panoramic Pacific and mountain views and making it the ideal time to go out and enjoy our natural beauty.

Pacific Grove Cares volunteer teams will be maintaining our three gardens and others on our Pickup Posse will be out collecting trash and debris to keep our community tidy and well cared for. It's a great way to get some exercise while being outdoors to enjoy each day of our spectacular fall weather. Join us as a volunteer or power our efforts with a donation. Fill out the contact form on our website: www.pacificgrovecares.org and let us know you would like to join a fun group of volunteers - or check out how to give to support us. Both are needed to Keep Pacific Grove Beautiful.

"I see trees of green, red roses too, I see them bloom for me and for you and I think to myself, what a wonderful world. I see skies of blue, and clouds of white, the bright blessed day
the dark sacred night, and I think to myself, what a wonderful world." lyrics from It's a Wonderful World.

Join Pacific Grove Cares where you can be out enjoying our beautiful natural resources that make our community so special. Visit www.pacificgrovecares.org to see our volunteer opportunities and how you can support our efforts.
