TAG recently worked with colleagues in Türkiye to successfully release 28 giant bluefin in the eastern Mediterranean! An international collaboration funded by ICCAT, Stanford and the farm! Our team was led by Rob Schallert who worked with Sinan Mavruk to make this possible! Amazing effort and in addition to our 2024 releases adds data that will shortly be published from the first release! Surprisingly, some of these very eastern fish come to North Carolina and Canada waters as well as the Black Sea! Stay tuned! Makes us proud a true team effort across the entire geoscape for bluefin tunas!

Thanks to CCA California for honoring our TAG team in the 30 th year for tagging of Giant Bluefin, sharks ,and billfishes In the Atlantic and Pacifc Oceans! TAG is a team sport with great fishers, Captains, engineers, biologists and fishery scientists. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to tagging giants across many countries we have visited! We together ensure big fish have a future in our oceans!

On our 30 year Tagging Journey we have a new review of bluefin tuna migration!

A Stanford-led effort combines bluefin tuna tag data and historical catch records to reconstruct the evolution of the fishery in the context of extensive movement and mixing.
