Meet Gateway Center's new Director of ICF Services!

We're excited to welcome Alex Marshack to Gateway Center's leadership team as our new Director of ICF Services. Alex brings a strong background in clinical and residential services, including leadership of 24-hour residential programs, multidisciplinary teams, regulatory compliance, and quality of care.

In his new role, Alex will lead Gateway Center's two Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/DD-H), helping strengthen the quality and person-centered services we provide to the individuals who call Gateway Center home.

We're excited to have Alex on board and look forward to the leadership, experience, and energy he'll bring to our residents, families, and team.

Wishing Johnnie all the best on his next journey!

Today, the Gateway Center team gathered over sushi, stories, and conversation to celebrate Johnnie Ivey and his years of service as a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP)within our Intermediate Care Facilities.

Throughout his time at Gateway Center, Johnnie played an important role in supporting our residents and built meaningful relationships with the individuals we serve, their families, and our employees.

Johnnie will certainly be missed. As he begins his next chapter, we wish him continued success and happiness—and he'll always be welcome back to visit his Gateway Center family.

Thank you for your service, Johnnie! đź’™

Celebrating a meaningful milestone ❤️

Gateway Center resident Lisa recently celebrated a very special day as she received her Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church in Pacific Grove.

Surrounded by family and friends, Lisa's celebration marked an important milestone in her personal and spiritual journey. We were especially honored to welcome her family, Bobby and Lynette Blackman, who traveled from Louisiana to share in this memorable occasion.

At Gateway Center, our Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) do more than provide 24-hour support—we help individuals pursue the goals, relationships, traditions, and life experiences that are meaningful to them. Supporting moments like these is an important part of delivering truly person-centered care.

Congratulations, Lisa! We are honored to have shared this special day with you and your family.

Last Friday, Gateway Center wrapped up our summer partnership with Save Our Shores, bringing together individuals from across our programs for a meaningful day of learning and reflection.

Just two weeks after our Carmel Beach cleanup, it was inspiring to see how the trash we collected is already helping protect our coastline. To conclude the three-part series, each participant made a personal pledge to continue caring for our beaches and doing their part to protect the environment.

A heartfelt thank you to Save Our Shores for an incredible partnership and for inspiring environmental stewardship throughout our community. We look forward to working together again!

Together, we're transforming more than a kitchen—we're investing in a home.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we've raised more than $38,000 toward renovating the kitchen in one of Gateway Center's Intermediate Care Facilities!

For the individuals who call Gateway Center home, this kitchen is more than a place to prepare meals. It's where they build independence, learn new skills, gather with friends, and create lasting memories.

While we've made tremendous progress—and have several sponsorship requests currently under consideration—we're not at the finish line just yet.

đź’™ You can help us get there. Every gift, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to creating a beautiful, welcoming kitchen our residents will enjoy for years to come.

What an incredible day!

Our Gateway Center team had a wonderful time attending the 10th Annual Superhero Walk, Run, Roll & Summer Festival in San Jose!

This year was especially meaningful because individuals from our Day Program represented Gateway Center at our resource booth—welcoming families, sharing information about our services, and demonstrating the confidence, kindness, and leadership that make our community so special.

We're grateful for the opportunity to connect with families, community partners, providers, and our friends at San Andreas Regional Center while celebrating inclusion, belonging, and the many abilities of the people we support.

A heartfelt thank you to SARC for hosting another fantastic event. We can't wait to join you again next year!

đź’™ Together, we're building stronger, more inclusive communities.

Gateway Center Day Program Giving Back at Carmel Beach 🌊💙

This week, Gateway Center partnered with Save Our Shores for a community beach cleanup at beautiful Carmel Beach. More than 30 individuals and employees spent the morning helping keep our coastline clean while enjoying time together outdoors.

At Gateway Center, we believe everyone deserves meaningful opportunities to contribute, build connections, and make a positive impact. We're proud of the individuals we support for demonstrating that service, inclusion, and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

A special thank you to Save Our Shores for partnering with us and creating an opportunity for the individuals we support to give back to our community.

What a wonderful day of community, celebration, and belonging!

Last weekend, Gateway Center was proud to participate in the 2026 Monterey Peninsula Pride Parade alongside the individuals we support, our dedicated employees, families, and community members.

From decorating our parade van to marching together through downtown Monterey, it was a joyful reminder that everyone deserves the opportunity to be seen, celebrated, and connected to their community.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible employees who volunteered their time and to Monterey Peninsula Pride for hosting another fantastic event. We can't wait to see you again next year!
