2026 IMPOWER Women’s Luncheon!

Gateway Center’s Executive Director & President, Mike Gonzalez, joined local businesswomen and community leaders at the IMPOWER Women’s Luncheon, celebrating women’s leadership and the importance of giving back.

It was a wonderful afternoon connecting with Nancy Schollink, Gateway Center’s HR consultant, and Denise O’Laughlin and hearing from keynote speaker Erin Clark of KSBW TV Action News 8!

At Gateway Center, we believe building a more inclusive community starts with meaningful relationships. By connecting with local businesses and community leaders, we’re creating greater awareness and opportunities for the individuals and families we serve.

Inclusion starts with conversation—and grows through partnership.

On October 12, Gateway Center joined the City of Pacific Grove's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force to share local data, raise awareness, and discuss opportunities to strengthen inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Our Executive Director Mike Gonzalez and Day Programs Leader Greg Dinsmore appreciated the thoughtful questions and dialogue about accessibility, community participation, and belonging.

Gateway Center has been part of Pacific Grove for more than 65 years, and we're looking forward to building stronger connections with our City and community partners.

🎃 Oh my gourd, fall fun has officially begun! Gateway Center of Monterey County’s Day Program kicked off its fall adventures at Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch today!

Follow along as our photos tell the story, from arriving and posing with a giant ape to riding the train through the cornfield, enjoying lunch in the picnic area, and striking a pose with a moving animatronic dinosaur! A day full of smiles, time with friends, and seasonal memories together. 🚂 🌽 🦖

On September 26th, the Gateway Center of Monterey County's staff and individuals we serve were excited to be out in the community at Artapalooza, hosted by Art Abilities, and we were proud to sponsor the event! 🎨

This was a wonderful day filled with creativity, connection, and community as our team and residents came together to enjoy the event, connect with community members, and experience the Art Abilities Student Group Dance performance.

As a sponsor and community partner, we were especially grateful for the opportunity to support an event that celebrates creativity, inclusion, and the talents of individuals with disabilities. 🤝

A big thank you to everyone on our team who participated and helped make this such a fun, meaningful, arts-filled event, and thank you to Ritika Kumar, Founder & CEO/Executive Director of Art Abilities, for putting together such a wonderful Artapalooza!

Gateway Center of Monterey County recently gathered to celebrate Isabel Lussier, our ICF2 – Lead, as she prepares to welcome her new little one! 👶

Isabel has been an important part of the Gateway Center's family for 8 years, and it was wonderful to take some time as a team to celebrate this exciting new chapter in her life. From opening gifts and sharing plenty of smiles and laughter to enjoying delicious food and sweet treats, it was a beautiful afternoon filled with friendship, love, and wishes for Isabel and her growing family. 🎁 🍕

🥞 On September 23, Gateway Center of Monterey County was pleased to attend the United Way Monterey County Community Breakfast at California State University, Monterey Bay, Monterey Bay University Center, with Greg Dinsmore, Day Program Manager; Traci De Oliveira, Community Integration Program Manager; and Rob Guzman, Development and Community Engagement Manager, representing Gateway Center of Monterey County at this inspiring gathering of community leaders and local organizations committed to strengthening and connecting Monterey County.

The morning began with a warm welcome and introductions from Monica Tovar, Board Chair of United Way Monterey County; Katy Castagna, President & CEO of United Way Monterey County; and Dan Green, Anchor of KSBW TV Action News 8, setting the stage for a meaningful morning of connection and conversation.

We were grateful for the opportunity to connect with Nancy Scholink, Monica Tovar, and many other community partners. Events like this create valuable opportunities to build relationships, share ideas, and strengthen the connections that help our community thrive.

At Gateway Center, we empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live happier, healthier, and more independent lives within their community. Experiences like this help bring that mission to life by creating a true sense of choice, dignity, inclusion, and belonging.

A special thank you to Save Our Shores for generously donating wristbands and helping make this day possible! We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership and proud that Gateway Center programs have supported Save Our Shores’ mission through local beach clean-ups, helping keep our beautiful coastline clean and accessible for everyone. 🏖 🤝

Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Recognition Week continues at Gateway Center of Monterey County!

From training and professional development to daily activities, community outings, and simply spending time together, our Direct Support Professionals are at the heart of what happens at Gateway Center. Every day may look different, but our DSPs are always there to provide support, encouragement, and connection. This week offers an extra opportunity to recognize the people who show up each day with patience, compassion, creativity, and dedication.

🏆 Stay tuned tomorrow! We’ll announce our DSP All-Star and Rookie of the Year, selected by their fellow Gateway Center team members. We can’t wait to celebrate this year’s honorees!
