She’s affectionate, easygoing and independent, and she adjusts beautifully to new surroundings. Sparkler gets along well with people, dogs and cats, making her a lovely companion for many kinds of homes.

Gabby is a gentle senior girl who still has plenty of pep in her step. She loves daily walks, sunshine and staying close to her people for affection.

She gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats, is fully house-trained according to her foster and brings a calm, loving presence into the home.

Gabby is currently being treated for Cushing’s disease and working toward a healthier weight before some additional medical care. She’ll need a family committed to helping her continue that progress.

For someone looking for a sweet, easygoing companion, Gabby has so much love to give. 💜

Relish is a bright, curious little dog with plenty of personality and just the right amount of zest to match her name.

She enjoys staying close to her people, finding cozy spots to settle into and quietly keeping an eye on everything happening around her.

Relish came to us from Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento as a stray, and we soon discovered she was pregnant. She has now raised her puppies and is ready for a home where the focus can finally be on her. 💕

After being such a devoted mama, Relish is ready to be loved, spoiled and treated like the little princess she is.

He loves brisk walks, exploring the yard, going for trail hikes and riding shotgun in the car with his nose catching the breeze. At home, he’s equally happy rolling belly-up on the couch for some serious snuggle time.

After spending several weeks wandering around town as a stray, Simba is more than ready to trade his exploring days for a soft bed and some stability.

This sweet senior gentleman is calm, polite and wonderfully easygoing. He enjoys being around people, does well sharing his space with other dogs and is perfectly happy taking life at his own leisurely pace.

Simba doesn’t ask for much. He just needs a comfortable place where he can finally settle in and feel at home. 💙

A small package with a bright personality, Benz still has plenty of pep in his step. He's a happy, friendly little guy who enjoys people and dogs alike, and he's lived with other dogs just fine. 🐾

He travels well and he settles well. Load him up for a day out and he's ready to ride along. Keep the afternoon slow and quiet at home and he's just as content. 🚗

Benz came to us from Front Street Sacramento City Animal Services after he was found as a stray. The shelter was overfull, and they felt he'd have his best chance at a forever family with the POMDR pack. 🏡

Our foster homes are all full at the moment, and we are putting out the call to all current and potential POMDR fosters for some support. We want to be able to say yes to as many dogs as possible and right now we need some more loving foster volunteers to make that happen. 🐾💙

Fostering is how we open that space back up, and it asks less of you than most people think. You give a dog a soft place to sleep and a predictable rhythm to the day. We handle the medical side and the search for the right adopter. Some stays last a few weeks, some stretch a few months, and every one of them keeps a dog in a real home where someone knows their name.🐾

The hardest dogs to place right now are the ones who need to be the only dog in the house. Cadbury, Fritter, and Pocket each do best with a person all to themselves, and Woody belongs on that list while he settles in and works on his manners. None of them are difficult dogs, they just need a quiet place to land. ✨

In Loving Memory of Wilson 🤍

Wilson was a mellow, gentle soul with a heart of gold. Age, vision loss, and Cushing's disease slowed him down, but none of it took away his love for treats, good company, and a slow toddle around the house and yard.

He spent a long stretch in our hospice program with Lynn and Tony, who take on so many of our hardest hospice cases and always find a way to give those dogs a real life. They went above and beyond for Wilson, the way they always do. He was easygoing with dogs of every shape and size, and he brought a calm, tender presence to everyone who knew him.

Rest peacefully, Wilson. You were deeply loved and you will be dearly missed. 🤍
