๐ŸŒŠ Join Us for another Oregon Beaches Forever webinar: Building Climate Resilience for the Oregon Shore ๐ŸŒŠ

๐Ÿ—“ Date: Wednesday, December 4
๐Ÿ•• Time: 6:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Where: Online

Weโ€™re excited to welcome Dr. Peter Ruggiero, Professor at OSU's College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, for an in-depth discussion on adapting Oregonโ€™s coastal communities to climate challenges.

With over 20 years of research in coastal geomorphology and hazards, Dr. Ruggiero will explore how communities in the Cascadia region can:

โœ… Address climate-driven geohazards, from erosion to tsunamis
โœ… Tackle barriers to equitable hazard mitigation
โœ… Build resilience while preserving coastal traditions and identities

This webinar is brought to you by the Oregon Beaches Forever campaign (Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition & Surfrider Foundation) and the Oregon King Tides Photo Project (a collaboration between CoastWatch & Oregon Coastal Management Program).

๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฒโœจ Introducing the Oregon Beaches Forever Campaign! The Surfrider Foundation and Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition are teaming up to launch a campaign to safeguard Oregon's public beaches for future generations and ensure the preservation of our coastlines and communities as we adapt to climate change.

In Oregon, the beaches belong to the people. Our entirely public shoreline is one of the stateโ€™s most treasured features, a vital legacy we can leave to future generations. Yet our public beaches are at risk, caught in the โ€œcoastal squeeze,โ€ between rising sea levels and coastal development. Losing Oregon's wild and dynamic beaches puts more than recreation at risk; these vital habitats also provide increased storm resilience to coastal communities.

We will be working to strengthen protections for the shoreline, implement comprehensive new policies, improve recreational access, fight harmful coastal development, and advocate for nature-based solutions to coastal erosion. And we will be offering educational events every month!
