What we do:
Parent Educators support parents throughout pregnancy until their children turn 3 years old by operating year 'round, providing monthly personal visits to families and group connections focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being. Parents and children especially enjoy the developmentally appropriate activities shared by the parent educat
or. They are FUN, enhance the parent/child relationship, and help the child grow in their development, be it in language, intellectual, social-emotional, or fine and gross motor skills, or all the above! Parent educators and the Parent As Teachers research and evidence-based curriculum provide a valuable time-saving resource to parents in so many areas which sometimes prove to be challenging, such as in feeding, weaning from the breast, bottle, pacifier, potty training, sleep issues, discipline, etc. We provide health, hearing, vision and developmental screenings for eligible children using approved screening tools and methods. We connect families to resources and help them overcome any barriers to accessing them. What we believe:
PAT services are beneficial to ALL FAMILIES because:
The early years of a child's life are critical for optimal development and provide the foundation for success in school and in life. Parents are their children's first and most influential teachers. Established and emerging research should be the foundation of parent education and family support curricula, training, materials and services. All young children and their families deserve the same opportunities to succeed, regardless of any demographic, geographic or economic considerations. An understanding and appreciation of the history and traditions of diverse cultures is essential in serving families.
