FOAA would like to wish our President, Chris Carlile a very happy birthday!! He’s not quiiiite ready to file for Social Security but he is another year closer! 🤣

Chris’ dedication to the many organizations he volunteers with, not to mention his personal businesses, keeps him on the go allll the time. Honestly, we have no idea how he keeps them all straight. We may end up branding Hueys and flying cattle one day but, for now, he’s keeping our birds in the air and the cows on the ground while continuing to push FOAA to greater heights and broader horizons.

Join us in wishing Chris the happiest of birthdays today!@@@

On the morning of Saturday, June 13, Friends of Army Aviation was honored to conduct the flyover for the Flag Replacement Ceremony at Sam Boswell Honda in Enterprise, Alabama.

This meaningful ceremony was held in collaboration with multiple military and veteran service organizations, bringing our community together to honor service, sacrifice, and the enduring symbol of freedom represented by our American flag.

It was also a full mission day for FOAA, with three events taking place across the community. In addition to the flyover, the Department of Fun hosted a fundraiser marathon walk in support of Wiregrass Gives, and AIT Trainees came out to earn volunteer hours while supporting our organization’s ongoing efforts.

Days like this highlight what community partnership is all about — veterans, service members, local organizations, businesses, and volunteers all working together with purpose.

Thank you to Sam Boswell Honda, the participating military and veteran service organizations, and everyone who helped make the day possible.

Friends of Army Aviation is proud to continue serving, educating, and keeping the legacy of Army Aviation flying strong.

So the FOAA DoF (Dept of Fun, and I use this term loosely on this particular adventure, 🤣) wanted to do something to give back to the Wiregrass community. So our fearless DoF leader, MSS, suggested a marathon walk fundraiser. Sponsorships per mile or flat donations were solicited from family, friends or other members or businesses. We had lots of walkers signed up originally, but attrition due to various reasons left us with only 2 ladies to actually make the walk. So a HUGE shout out to Monica and MSS for tackling this marathon on such a HOT HOT 🥵 day!

They began their trek from the FOAA hangar in Ozark around 0630 this morning. The route took them south down Hwy 123 to the Village Inn on the corner of Hwy 134 where they took a little break and then continued on west towards Daleville and the Fort Rucker Gate. They stopped for a lunch break after entering the Post. KK (who knew better than to even Attempt this lunacy🤣) brought sandwiches🥪, water🧊, gatorades and the ever important, “choccy biccy”. Which, translated from British English 🇬🇧 to American English 🇺🇸, is a chocolate chip cookie! 🍪🍪

After their brief lunch rest, MSS cracked the whip again and they were off to continue their journey through Fort Rucker to the Ozark Gate . They continued on Andrews Avenue to Deese Rd. Having accomplished 24.2 miles they took an ice cream 🍦break at Dairy Queen before conquering that last 1.8 miles back to the hangar just down 231 but up some pretty steep hills ⛰️! The victoriously finished their quest at approximately 1730. FOAA could not be prouder of these two ladies for their grit, stamina and generosity! ❤️

We would also like to give a big shout out to Ms. Gail who stopped to check on us as they were taking a snack/water break on the side of the road in some bless-ed shade! There are some great folks in the Wiregrass and we truly appreciate the kindness to make sure all was well! 🥰

They raised approximately $2500 💰💵 (which will be matched by FOAA) for a total of at least $5000 for Wiregrass Gives! OUTSTANDING JOB, Ladies!! We are SO proud to have you as members of our FOAA Family. 🫡❤️❤️

Still Above the Best!! 🚁🚁

Today while one our crews conducting the Boswell Honda flag ceremony, AIT students from Fort Rucker came and participated in some hard work with Dave Whalen working on improving our parts room. Our president Chris Carlile presented challenge coins to six of the most productive students. All of them were offered a ride in the Huey after their graduation ceremony.
