Nyeland Promise is honored to receive the 2026 APA California Central Coast Section Award of Excellence for our Safe Travels in Nyeland Acres program! 🏆🚶‍♀️🚲

This Communications and Outreach Initiative Award recognizes our community-driven efforts to raise awareness about pedestrian and bicycle safety in Nyeland Acres through education, walk audits, resident engagement, and advocacy for safer streets in underserved communities.

We are especially thankful to Southern California Association of Governments (S**G) for nominating our program and for supporting efforts that advance equity and safety in communities like Nyeland Acres. Our Co-Founder, Mary Anne Rooney, was proud to attend the conference and accept the award on behalf of Nyeland Promise and the community we serve.

Celebrating all the amazing moms in our community! 💐

We had a wonderful time dancing during our Zumba class, getting creative at our family art class, and sharing delicious food together. Our seniors enjoyed pozole and also received wagons to help transport their food boxes. Mom’s and their kids enjoyed pizza and agua de jamaica during the Cantarito art class.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fun and meaningful celebration! 💛

We are honored to receive the Southern California Association of Governments (S**G) Carmen Ramirez Equity Award for our advocacy and commitment to equity and social justice in Nyeland Acres. ❤️

Through our Safe Travels program, Nyeland Promise has helped raise awareness about bicycle and pedestrian safety while advocating for safer streets in our community.

This award is especially meaningful because Carmen Ramirez served as our supervisor representing Nyeland Acres and was a true champion for underserved communities. Thank you to County of Ventura - Government Supervisor Vianey Lopez for accepting this award with us. 💕

🎉✨ Nyeland Promise celebrated the 1st ever Dia del Niño/a in Nyeland Acres! ✨🎉

We were proud to assist families in registering their children for the CalKIDS scholarship, helping open doors to future college opportunities 🎓

A special thank you to Dr. Javier Gomez and Inlakech Cultural Arts Center for the beautiful music and bailes that brought so much life to the celebration 💃🏽🎶 And thank you to Gold Coast Health Plan for sharing valuable health information and to Ventura County Sheriff's Office for helping us distribute toys.

This event was made possible by the California Love, California Strong💕 state initiative Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications.
