Philippine Flag Raising Ceremony in Oxnard – June 12, 2026
Oxnard, CA – The Filipino-American Council of Ventura County (FACVC) invites the public to its annual Philippine Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Oxnard City Hall, 305 W. 3rd Street (between A Street and C Street).
The event commemorates the 128th anniversary of the Philippines’ independence from Spain, and the raising of the Philippine flag over the City of Oxnard remains a powerful symbol of pride for the Filipino-American community. The ceremony is regularly attended by city and county officials, community leaders, and members of the public.
This year, FACVC is honored to welcome Marc Amon as guest speaker. Marc is a proud Filipino-American, retired Oxnard Police Commander, and current Security Services Manager for the County of Ventura. During his 27-year law enforcement career, he held leadership roles in patrol operations, gang enforcement, SWAT, hostage negotiation, recruitment, training, and community policing. He also serves as a Human Resources Investigator for the City of Camarillo and works as a school safety consultant supporting safer learning environments throughout the region.
Marc holds advanced degrees in Criminal Justice and is widely respected for his dedication to public safety, leadership, and community service. A devoted husband, father, and lolo, he is passionate about preserving Filipino culture and honoring the sacrifices of earlier generations while passing those values on to future generations.
As this year’s guest speaker, Marc will share reflections on Philippine Independence Day and the enduring connection between Filipino heritage, family legacy, public service, and opportunity in America.
