May 5-9 is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Optimist International extends a heartfelt thank you to educators everywhere!

Teachers play a vital role in shaping the future, providing not just knowledge but also encouragement and hope to young minds. Their dedication aligns perfectly with the Optimist mission of bringing out the best in youth, and we recognize the incredible impact teachers have every single day within our communities.

Optimist Clubs are committed to supporting students, schools and teachers through programs like O.W.L.S. – Optimists Working for Learning Success. This program connects local Optimist Clubs with elementary schools to provide essential resources — such as nutrition, clothing, school supplies and tutoring — ensuring students have the support they need to thrive.

By working together with educators, we aim to create positive learning environments where every student can succeed. Thank you, teachers, for being invaluable partners in nurturing the potential within every child!

There is a new Optimist Club in southeast Asia. The Optimist Club of Dhaka-Palashbari organized Sunday with 15 members. These new Optimists are being sponsored by the Kathmandu City Optimist Club in Nepal and the Cherry Hill Business Optimist Club in New Jersey. The new members in Bangladesh are part of the newly created Asia District of Optimist International. We welcome these new members into the Optimist family and look forward to learning about the positive impact you will have on your area of the capital city.

There is a new Optimist Club on the African continent. The Optimist Club of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was organized Sunday with 15 members. The Club is being sponsored by the Jackson County Florida Optimist Club. The new Club in Kinshasa already has goals in mind for projects including providing food for needy people in the area as well as addressing medical and educational needs for young people. We look forward to learning more of these efforts in the months to come.
