PAY IT FORWARD

Hello everyone…
With golf starting up in 2 weeks, we want to try to make sure everyone has equipment they can use.
Does anyone have any clubs that they may have outgrown or maybe you got an updated set of clubs and you would like to “pay it forward” with your old set?

We are looking for ALL sizes, for kids and adults.
If you do have something you think someone else could use, can you post here and maybe we find a home BEFORE practice starts.

Important note: we would like to give the clubs directly to an athlete in need, I do NOT have anywhere to store clubs, so we are looking to make a connection with someone who can benefit from and give them directly to someone in need.

UNFORTUNATELY… Special Olympics Connecticut has decided, that due to weather, we will need to cancel the Fall Sports Golf Tournament and the Croquet Competition that is scheduled for this Sunday (September 24).

They visited Sleeping Giant GC and the tent area is a wet, muddy area that would be dangerous for athletes, coaches and family members to try and negotiate throughout the day . In addition, there is more rain in the forecast on saturday into Sunday morning.

It’s been a challenging summer weather wise. We are not happy we have had to cancel our SOCT Fall Sports Golf Tournament…..twice. But it is the best interest we do so for the safety of our athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators.
These decisions are never easy to make, but for the safety of all involved, it needs to be done.

Hello All,
Due to the weather and the amount of water, Special Olympics CT has made the decision to postpone the golf event.
Golf has been RESCHEDULED for Sunday September 24, 2023.
We will share more info as it becomes available.

Unfortunately, due to the heat index, OSO will be cancelling golf and croquet practice tonight!

We have been advised in an email from Marc Mercadante, the VP of CT Special Olympics, Sports and Local Programs:

"Given the heat, high humidity and heat index today through tomorrow night, we are requesting that local programs not have full outdoor practices tonight and tomorrow night.

We understand that these nights may be the last time teams will meet to go over transportation needs and receive their uniforms and schedules (before this weekend's Unified Sports® Fall Festival). It's fine to go ahead with these meetings.

The weather this weekend looks to be cooler!"

So, it’s officially Rainy Season - we should have known, since that seems to happen whenever we have practice scheduled 😜

Practice is OFFICIALLY a cancelled for tonight July 18, 2023 due to Mother Nature and her mysterious ways.

Winter is not cooperating for our Snowshoeing / Cross Country skiing practice. Either it’s raining, or not cold enough - and now it’s going to be TOO COLD!

So, we’ve set up alternative plans for everyone this Friday - we will be attempting Exercises and Gentle Yoga with Debbie Mitchell. No experience necessary, just come with an open mind and comfortable clothes!

We will NOT be going outside as it will be too cold, so no need for snow pants and boots.

All registered athletes/volunteers are welcome to attend!

If you have a towel or a yoga mat to use on the gym floor, please feel free to bring it, but not required!

Hello All,
The weather prediction for today is CRAPPY with a chance of HORRIBLE!
Seriously, with the predicted rain starting after 5:00, we feel it would be best and safest if we cancel practice today January 22, 2023
It’s not fun or safe to be skiing in the rain!
