The Giving Garden

The Giving Garden The Giving Garden is a Plant A Row for the Hungry garden sponsored by St Joseph Catholic Church. No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used in our garden.

The Giving Garden is located on the beautiful Dominican Sisters Motherhouse Campus in Oxford, Michigan. Last year, the garden provided over 900 pounds of fresh organic produce to the Community Free Meals Program sponsored by Love INC, the FISH Food Pantry, and even had enough tomatoes to share with local senior centers. We are very family friendly. Please contact Advanced Master Gardener and St. Jospeh Parishioner Stephanie Abate for more information at [email protected].

Sorry folks! The Giving Garden is closed. The property the garden is located on is currently for sale. I will never forget the 20+ years I spent serving here and all the wonderful people I have had the privilege of working with.πŸ˜₯

Today was fence deconstruction day 1. A big thank you to Kalan Hand and his parents Mike and Diane who had everything organized down to the last detail and even fed us lunch. Many hands make light the work and the fence is down. Tomorrow at noon we begin post hole digging and hopefully get the new post in the ground. Thank you Scout troop 128 from Lake Orion and Barry Jarue from the Dominican Mother House for helping get tbis project in action.

Today we caught and released our very first skunk!!! When I say we, I actually mean me. Thank you YouTube for all your guidance and especially for teaching me what not to do. All went well and the cute little guy is back in the forest with all his woodland friends.

My dear Aunt Annette Mucha gave me some tomato seeds she smuggled home from Italy. We just planted 10 of these little beauties at the Giving Garden today. Some one ask me what they were called and since I didn't know, we decided to call them "Auntie Annette Italiano".
