Update about the Rabbi from the Chabad of Poway.
"The Rabbi is out of surgery.
Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein went to the restroom to wash his hands right before the Yizkor service. As he comes out, he sees the gunman in the hallway and notices Lori Gilbert-Kaye falling after she was shot.
Before the terrorist has a chance to enter the packed synagogue, not realizing that his hand was shot, Rabbi Goldstein gathered the children and gathered all those in the sanctuary and brought them to Saftey.
The gun then jams momentarily, giving an armed U.S. military veteran and Chabad regular the opportunity to rush the shooter, chasing him out of the building. As he fled, an off-duty Border Patrol officer shot and struck the shooterās vehicle four times.
After an 8 hour surgery, the doctors were unfortunately not able to save the rabbiās two fingers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends and the three others who were wounded, including the Rabbi. May they have a complete and speedy recovery!"
