Today, our Oxford County Special Olympics athletes took the court at the Maine Special Olympics Basketball Tournament at USM in Gorham, and they showed EXACTLY what heart, hustle, and teamwork look like! 💙💪
These athletes left everything on the floor—playing hard, supporting one another, and representing Oxford County with pride, determination, and sportsmanship from start to finish.
🥈 Waypoint Special Olympics Basketball Team fought through every game with grit and perseverance, earning an incredible SILVER MEDAL!
🥇 Living Innovations Basketball Team brought the energy, skill, and teamwork, finishing strong and taking home the GOLD MEDAL!
A HUGE shout‑out to our Unified Partners, who stood side‑by‑side with their teammates, proving that inclusion makes teams stronger. Your leadership, encouragement, and commitment helped make today’s success possible, and we are so grateful for each of you!

Thank you as well to our coaches, volunteers, families, and fans who cheered loud, supported nonstop, and helped create an amazing tournament experience. It truly takes a community, and Oxford County showed up in the best way.
Today was about more than medals—it was about confidence, inclusion, teamwork, and celebrating what these athletes can achieve together. We couldn’t be prouder! 🌟

Oxford County Special Olympics, with the assistance of Special Olympics Maine and The Progress Center, held our first Co****le Tournament on Wednesday, September 24th. It was an amazing day with lots of fun, dancing, food, and competition.

Don't forget to join us this Sunday, September 7th, from 3:00 to 6:00 at DaddyO's in Oxford for our annual car show! There will be a ticket auction with numerous great prizes, as well as a 50/50 drawing. Food will be served throughout the event, including burgers, hot dogs, and drinks. This year, we will also be having a lemonade stand run by our local athletes. All food and drink are free or by donation!! We look forward to seeing you there!!

Oxford County Special Olympics is thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our athletes and coaches who have been selected to represent Team Maine at the highly anticipated 2026 USA Games in Minneapolis, Minnesota!

We are proud to announce that Chris Webb-Ward will be showcasing his talents on the soccer field, while Ivan Sheloske will take on the challenge of competing in golf.

They will be supported by the dedicated coaching duo of Rhonda Lausier and Ashly Rolfe, who bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the soccer team.

Chris and Ivan have truly exemplified what it means to be dedicated athletes, pouring countless hours of effort into their training and development. Their steadfast commitment to their teams, coupled with outstanding sportsmanship, has positioned them as inspiring leaders, both within their sports and in the broader community.

Coaches Rhonda Lausier and Ashly Rolfe have been integral members of the Oxford County Special Olympics for many years. Their passion for coaching is evident in their unwavering support and commitment to our athletes and the overall mission of Special Olympics. They empower individuals with intellectual disabilities through the transformative power of sport, creating a positive impact that extends far beyond the playing field and fosters a sense of belonging within the entire Special Olympics Maine community.
