🌟 Meet Greg Van Kirk, Strategic Advisor to The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation.

Greg helps guide two important areas of Sullivan programming: the Service Corps and the Sullivan Impact Prize.

With more than 20 years of experience founding, leading, and advising organizations across 25+ countries, Greg brings a global perspective and a deep understanding of what it takes to turn ideas into meaningful, lasting change.

His experience in leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact helps equip Sullivan students and emerging changemakers with the tools, perspective, and confidence to move from intention to action.

We are grateful for the insight and experience Greg brings to the Sullivan community.

🔥 The Ignite Retreat is where many Sullivan journeys begin, and if you’ve been to Ignite, chances are you’ve met Jordan Bowman.

Jordan began his own Sullivan journey as an Ignite Retreat participant. Today, he returns year after year to help lead the experience alongside Sullivan alumnus and facilitator Josh Nadzam.

After Ignite, Jordan went on to found Journeymen, a nonprofit dedicated to building community and helping young men become empathetic, confident leaders.

Jordan’s story reflects exactly what we hope Sullivan programming can inspire: students who discover their purpose, grow as leaders, and then return to invest in the next generation.

We are proud to call Jordan a Sullivan alumnus, and we are grateful for the time, knowledge, and leadership he continues to give back to our students and community.

This week, we are proud to feature Fisk University, Sullivan’s first HBCU partner institution.

Fisk joined the Sullivan network through a unique partnership with Belmont University, creating a collaborative model focused on leadership development, service, and social impact.

Together, Sullivan, Belmont, and Fisk have invested in changemaking programs while working to establish a shared endowment that will help sustain opportunities for students at both institutions for generations to come.

Each year, Fisk sends 8–10 students to the Sullivan Ignite Retreat and supports a growing cohort in the Sullivan Fellows Program. Their commitment to developing leaders who serve others is reflected in the dedication of both their students and faculty.

We are especially grateful for the leadership of Ricardo Guthrie and Dr. Rolande Dathis, who continue to champion their students and the Sullivan mission. Last year, Fisk hosted a Sullivan Ignite Workshop that brought together participants from Fisk, Belmont, Rust College, and The University of the South for a day of leadership development, connection, and collaboration.

As we prepare for Sullivan Weekend, we celebrate Fisk’s commitment to cultivating leaders who make a meaningful difference in their communities and beyond.

Behind every transformative Sullivan experience is a passionate leader helping bring it to life.

This week’s Staff Spotlight features Luke Lingle, Year 2 Fellows Lead and Director of the Service Corps Program.

Luke is passionate about leadership development, community impact, and helping others create meaningful change in the places they call home. Through his work with The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation, he guides students in developing purpose-driven leadership rooted in service, connection, and meaningful social impact.

Whether he is mentoring Fellows or helping lead Service Corps programming, Luke brings a thoughtful, community-centered approach to every experience.

Outside of his work with the Foundation, Luke enjoys spending time with family and friends in Asheville, North Carolina.

We are grateful for the leadership, perspective, and commitment Luke brings to the Sullivan community.

Sullivan Weekend is almost here! 🔥

We can’t wait to welcome new students and faculty while reconnecting with returning participants, partners, and the people helping advance meaningful work across the Sullivan network.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting partner schools that are actively engaged in Sullivan student programming.

🌟 First up: Belmont University

Belmont joined the Sullivan network in 2015 with the presentation of the Sullivan Medallion on campus. Over the past four years, Belmont students and faculty have actively participated in the Ignite Retreat and Sullivan Fellows Program, alongside fellow Nashville institution Fisk University, Sullivan’s first HBCU partner school.

Together, Sullivan, Belmont, and Fisk have established a shared endowment partnership designed to help sustain leadership and service programming on both campuses for generations to come.

With nationally recognized strengths in social innovation and entrepreneurship, Belmont brings valuable perspectives, resources, and a deep commitment to service that reflect the spirit of Sullivan Weekend.

We look forward to welcoming Belmont students and faculty next week!
