Hogan and Whitney water level dropping: you may have noticed the water level dropping over the last few days. I checked out the grade controls this week and saw half of the highest row of boulders fell over, probably from icing during our severe winter. The contractor that built the grade controls (VHB Engineering) and the Oxford Town Manager have been notified of the situation. I asked them to close the gates at the Welchville Dam until the grade controls are repaired. Hopefully this will be done on Monday.

Missing cat:
Our daughter's cat went missing about a week ago from our home at 154 Hogan Pond Lane. Her cat is grey with a clipped ear and very timid. If you see her, will probably just run away from you. We suspect the cat is in close proximity to our house.

Please contact me if you see her cat. Thanks! Tom (617-271-8204)

Hello Everyone,

As spring and summer approach, we wanted to provide the Hogan & Whitney Pond Association community with an update on our activities over the winter months.
As shared in our previous post, the Association continues to work diligently to secure a boat or pontoons. This will enable us to assist New England Milfoil(NEMF) with the removal and prevention of milfoil on Hogan Pond. We are pleased to confirm that there is currently no milfoil present on Whitney Pond.
Managing milfoil is a significant expense. We rely on DEP grants (when awarded) and annual member dues to fund these critical services.

Reminder: Annual dues can be paid online at https://hoganwhitneypond.org/donations or by check mailed to:

Over the past several months, the Board has explored various fundraising options to support our work this year. We are pleased to announce that the Board has approved the sale of official Hogan & Whitney Pond Association drink koozies and coffee mugs. These items provide a practical way for members to show their support while enjoying the ponds—whether sipping morning coffee with a scenic view or keeping a cold drink chilled on the water. All proceeds from these items will directly support milfoil removal efforts. These items will be available for purchased on the website early May and will be available for purchase at the annual meeting.

Upcoming Events:

- Annual Meeting – Saturday, June 27th at 9:00 AM at the Oxford Recreation Center, 223 King Street, Oxford, ME 04270

- Hogan Pond 4th of July Annual Fishing Derby – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Direct message us for more information)

- Whitney Pond 4th of July Boat Parade – Decorate your boat in an “All American” theme as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a parade around Whitney Pond. Time to be determined.

New England Milfoil Work on Hogan Pond – Dates are TBD, but we are actively seeking volunteers to assist with the effort.

We appreciate your continued support in preserving the health and beauty of Hogan and Whitney Ponds.

Hello Everyone,

We hope you all enjoyed a joyful holiday season and a wonderful start to the new year.

As spring approaches, the Association is intensifying our efforts to raise awareness about milfoil and strengthen prevention measures to protect the health of Hogan and Whitney Pond.

To support our ongoing milfoil removal operations this summer, we are actively seeking an affordable pontoon boat or barge or even just the pontoons themselves to assist our volunteer divers and enhance operational efficiency.

If you have any leads on a suitable vessel or know someone willing to donate one, we would greatly appreciate your assistance. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations of this nature may qualify for tax-deductible benefits.

Please contact us if you can help or have any information.

Thank you for your continued support in preserving the quality of our ponds.

Thanks,
Hogan Whitney Pond Association
