We're excited to support the great folks at Doors of Hope Transition Ministries in their annual Holiday House Tour fundraiser! This year, we get a peek into the homes of some of Mississippi's most talented, promising young women, with a Sorority House tour.

Doors of Hope provides financial support to working women with children, helping them become stable in their housing and develop tools to progress independently. They help numerous families stay in their homes, and children stay in their school districts, providing a crucial foundation for brighter futures.

Follow the link from https://doorsofhopeoxford.org/ to get your tickets! This Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 1-5 pm

The Sorority Holiday House Tour is ONLY 5 days away!!! You don’t want to miss out on this holiday fun. 🎄 Join us on December 10th from 1 pm to 5 pm to tour nine sorority homes decorated for the festive season on Rebel Drive and Sorority Row at The University of Mississippi!

Tickets are available for purchase for $30 on our website - tap the link in our bio. Tickets will also be sold at the event for $35. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event. 🎅🏻✨❄️

TOMORROW! We'll go through the basics of affordability, credit, and the basics of a home loan! It's a great time to get this information, so you have everything you need to structure your goals in 2024 and beyond.

I think of home ownership like growing a fruit tree. Most fruit trees take 8-10 years, or even longer, between planting a sapling and harvesting the fruit. We have to invest in the soil, nutrients, water, protection, and be consistent over time, to get one fruit. But if we maintain our investment in that tree, it will give back to us in the long term.

Even if now is not the right time for you to buy a home, it IS the right time to start thinking like an empowered potential buyer.

One of LOU-HOME's projects over the years has been sharing Fair Housing information online, in print, and in person. The Mississippi Home Corp. produces a report called "Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice". That report identifies "Lack of Fair Housing Knowledge" as a major impediment throughout the state, and education like the workshops LOU-HOME provides, as activities that address that impediment.

Renters and homebuyers deserve to know how and where to report potential housing discrimination, including appraisal discrimination. The HUD website is a vast resource, and we encourage you to learn all that you can!

Through partnerships with developers, LOU-HOME has contributed more units of cost-controlled housing to Oxford than any other organization. We know it isn't enough. We want to do MORE. These projects are difficult to put together, and they take years, and they need your consistent support to succeed!

When they are not producing new housing, our Board Members produce locally-tailored research about housing affordability and the realities Lafayette-Oxford-University families face. They serve in multiple local committees and organizations that wrestle with this issue. Our Housing Counseling Program has intervened in evictions and helped guide working families into home ownership.

Our local pantry is getting some much-deserved renovations so it can be more effective for the 600 families per month who rely on it. While the building will be closed over the summer, the organization will still be providing food, at multiple locations listed at the link.

The Oxford Food Pantry closed its doors for the summer on Memorial Day and won’t reopen until around Labor Day while the food bank is renovated to provide more space. However, food will still be distributed to patrons at mobile pantries once a month. The first Mobile Food Pantry will be on Wednesd...
