We Feed Communities After Disasters and Enrich Heroes' Lives Every Day. From Humble Beginnings to a National Force: Since its founding in the wake of the devastating tornado in Joplin, Mo., in May 2011, Operation BBQ Relief, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has provided nearly 13 million barbecue meals to communities after disasters. Armed with more than 23,000 registered volunteers, a caravan

of cooks, mobile pits, kitchens, and a heart full of compassion, Operation BBQ Relief has become synonymous with disaster response, offering relief to first responders and communities affected by disasters for more than a decade. Expanding Beyond Disaster Relief: The Always Serving Project® and Camp OBR™ Programs: Operation BBQ Relief's commitment extends far beyond disaster response. The organization enriches the lives of heroes through initiatives like The Always Serving Project® and Camp OBR™. These culinary therapy programs provide purpose, connection, and support to our heroes in uniform, including the military, veterans, families of fallen heroes, first responders, and their loved ones. OBR also addresses food insecurity issues in communities across the U.S. Stay Connected, Join the Mission: To learn more about our work, volunteer opportunities, and how you can support our mission, please visit OBR.org and follow us on social media: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok at .

We were deeply honored to collaborate with the Gary Sinise Foundation , Rentals , and Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes earlier this week to provide 100 hot meals of gratitude to the volunteer firefighters at Berkeley Hills Fire Company, Station 247, in Ross Township, Pennsylvania.

Giving back to those who dedicate their lives to serving others is at the core of our mission. We extend our sincere gratitude to every volunteer and partner who helped bring this Day of Giving to life.

Earlier this month, Operation BBQ Relief’s Volunteer Program Manager, Sean Lamey, and Florida Area Coordinator, Alan Jones, represented our team at the quarterly Florida Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (FL VOAD) meeting at the new State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee.

During the event, Sean and Alan participated in key training sessions and strengthened partnerships with fellow VOAD members, FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Florida Division of Emergency Management. They shared our mission to feed communities after disasters and enrich heroes’ lives every day, ensuring we stand ready to deploy the moment disaster strikes.

Thank you, Sean and Alan, for your leadership and dedication to disaster readiness in Florida!

Earlier this month, we proudly served 400 hot meals to the Missouri State Fair Fire Department, EMS technicians, police officers, and first responders working hard at the Missouri State Fair.

This Day of Giving is just one of the ways we express our deep gratitude to heroes in uniform through The Always Serving Project. We are honored to give back to those who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities.

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers and Operation BBQ Relief’s Missouri/Kansas Area Coordinator, Randy Hartmann. Beyond making this event possible, they helped educate thousands of state fair attendees about our mission: feeding communities after disasters and enriching heroes’ lives every day!

Over the last two days, our team provided 800 hot, comforting meals to Kansas City, Kansas residents affected by recent severe storms and power outages. The true highlight of the deployment was seeing community resilience in real time.

On our final day, our Director of Operations, Skeeter Stone, was joined by a fresh group of local volunteers – many of whom were meal recipients from day one who wanted to give back to their neighbors. We’re officially packed up and heading out, but Kansas, we remain ready to step up if you ever need us again!

Thanks so much to KCTV5 News Kansas City & Claire Decatur for highlighting our deployment to Kansas City, Kansas today. Big shout-out to all the volunteers who came out to help! We couldn't do this without you.
