Lafayette County, Miss. — Any resident who sustained damage from Winter Storm Fern and have not yet applied for federal assistance or who need help with an existing application have a final opportunity to meet in person with representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Staff will be available Monday and Tuesday, June 8–9, at the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Harmontown Substation, 14 County Road 517, Como, Mississippi 38619, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome. You do NOT have to be a resident of Lafayette County. Anyone that who sustained damge is welcome.

The deadline to apply for FEMA individual assistance is Wednesday, June 10. Residents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this in-person event before the application window closes.

Whether applying for the first time or seeking assistance with a previously submitted application, FEMA and SBA staff will be on hand to answer questions, review documentation, and guide residents through the process.

“Time is running out for residents who were affected by Winter Storm Fern to get the help they need and deserve,” said Beau Moore, PIO for the Lafayette County. “This in-person event in Harmontown is a critical resource. We encourage anyone who has not yet applied or who has questions about an existing application to come out and speak directly with FEMA and SBA staff before the June 10 deadline.”
