Every child has the right to quality and accessible education. Yet, crises, conflicts and poverty continue to fail millions and their families around the world.
Today, we want to talk to you about Cameroon.
For years, armed conflict in the North West and South West regions has shut down schools, displaced families, and stolen childhoods.
The UN reports that more than 700,000 children have been forced out of school* due to the crisis since 2016.
And it doesn’t stop there.
Across Cameroon, over 1.9 million children are out of school; the majority because their families cannot afford fees, uniforms, and books. Many of them are orphans. Many have lost parents to violence or disease. Many now live in low-income communities and internally displaced camps where a single meal is a struggle, let alone school supplies.
When children are denied school, the cost is generational.
We lose doctors who will never heal. Teachers who will never teach. Leaders who will never lead.
We also see increased risks of child labor, early marriage, and recruitment into violence.
But here’s the truth: poverty and conflict do not have to write the ending to a child’s story.
We can.
YANA Inc. is calling on you to stand with us through the Education For All Scholarship Awards.
This program provides direct support to underprivileged children and orphans living in low-income and conflict settings across Cameroon.
We cover tuition. We provide school supplies, uniforms, and learning materials. And we support schools and communities to create safe learning spaces.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Give Cash
Your monetary donation goes directly to scholarships.
- $50 sponsors one child for a school term
- $150 covers a full school year
- $500 sponsors a classroom kit for 20 students
Every dollar helps a child return to class with dignity.
2. Give In Kind
You can also donate items that go straight into the hands of students and schools:
- New backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils
- Textbooks and storybooks in English and French
- School uniforms and shoes
- Solar lamps for children studying without electricity
- Hygiene kits for girls to stay in school
If you’re a business, church, or community group, you can host a school supply drive and we’ll handle shipping and distribution in Cameroon.
Imagine a child who hasn’t been to school in 2 years, because of war, walking into a classroom with a new uniform and books in hand.
Imagine an orphan who thought their dreams ended, being told: “Someone believes in you. Go learn.”
That’s what your donation does. It restores hope.
We cannot reach every child alone. But together, we can reach thousands.
