Two hours can mean cleaner sidewalks, tidier public spaces, and a downtown that looks a little more cared for. And when a bunch of us give two hours together, the impact adds up.

That’s what Step Up for Downtown is all about.

We’re looking for community members of all ages to join us for the Downtown Fall Cleanup on October 2 or 3. Choose the two-hour shift that works for you:

🧹 Friday, Oct. 2 | 8–10 AM
🧹 Friday, Oct. 2 | 10 AM–12 PM
🧹 Saturday, Oct. 3 | 8–10 AM
🧹 Saturday, Oct. 3 | 10 AM–12 PM

And yes, there’s a little something extra! Volunteers who sign up AND complete their cleanup shift will be entered into a drawing for one of four gift cards to Downtown Owosso businesses.

🍂🎃 One Last Call for Fall Decorating Volunteers! 🎃🍂

Tomorrow is the big day! We’re decorating Downtown Owosso for fall, and we could use a few more helping hands.

🗓 Tuesday, September 22
📍 Meet at City Hall, 301 W. Main Street

We have three ways to help:

🎃 Unload & Decorate | 3:30–6 PM — Help unload pumpkins, straw bales, cornstalks, gourds, and other fall décor.

🍂 Decorate | 4–6 PM — Our biggest need! Join one of our four teams and help decorate designated locations throughout downtown. No experience needed—we’ll have decorating guides and all the supplies you need.

🛻 Transport & Decorate | 4–6 PM — We especially need a few volunteers with pickup trucks to help transport decorations from City Hall to our decorating locations at 4pm.

There’s a lot happening in and around Downtown Owosso over the next couple of weeks! Here are a few ways to get out, get involved, and share your input:

🎨 ArtWalk Owosso — TONIGHT!
Friday, September 18 | 4–8 PM
Spend the evening celebrating art, music, food, photography, literature, sculpture, craft, and community throughout Downtown Owosso.

🏠 Owosso Historic Home Tour — TOMORROW!
Saturday, September 19 | 10 AM–5 PM
STEP BACK IN TIME and tour some of the most architecturally significant homes and buildings in the city. Tickets are $25 and are available at Curwood Castle.

♻️ Upcycle Art in the Park — NOW THROUGH SEPTEMBER 27
Check out this exhibit at the Shiawassee Arts Center featuring artwork created by Michigan artists using trash and recycled or found materials. It’s a great reminder that art—and inspiration—can be found in unexpected places.
