TUESDAY'S PUPDATES AND CAT TALES!
Today's cat tale is about Birdie, a sweet lady who came to SHS over 10 years ago! She had babies of her own, and when she was done nursing them, she nursed another litter of newborns who had lost their mom. She was our beautiful loving mama kitty. However Birdie didn't "stand out"; she wasn't a kitten, she didn't have unique markings, she was happy to quietly sit on her cat perch while other cats raced to the front of their kennels purring to greet people. So we loved her, we took care of her, and we waited with her...for over 2 years we waited for someone to come in and see how special she really was. Birdie's story changed the day Alana walked in our door! We will let Alana tell the story in her own words. SPOILER ALERT - Alana adopted Birdie, and almost 11 years later they are still living their forever together!
THANK YOU ALANA for giving our precious girl the best life ever, and THANK YOU FOR ADOPTING!
Alana writes:
"I wanted to share a happy little story, over 10 years ago I adopted this pretty lady from the Humane society, her name was birdie, she came in with a litter of kittens and she fostered a litter of kittens, when I came in we asked out of all the animals there who was there the longest and it was her, 2.5 years. We took her home its been roughly 11 years ago, she estimated to be roughly between 17 to 19 years old. She cant hear anymore and has late night dementia but old girl is still living life and thriving.
In the future I will definitely be going back to the Humane Society and adopting the "older" kitties although I do love the babies, it breaks my heart to see a senior living out their last years there. We absolutely love our sweet girl"
