❄️ Winter Prep in Progress! 🚒

Your Owosso Firefighters are out in the community checking hydrants for residual water before freezing temperatures set in.

Checking and pumping hydrants now prevents freeze-ups, ensuring that defective hydrants are identified, repaired, and fully operational when it matters most.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: Please use extra caution and slow down when driving past our apparatus and crews while we perform these safety checks. Give us space to work so we can keep everyone safe!

🔥 October is Fire Prevention Month! 🔥

Your Owosso firefighters had a great time visiting the students at Central Elementary this morning! We talked about the importance of fire safety and what to do if an emergency ever happens.

Parents, take a moment to review these essential safety rules with your family today:

1️⃣ Get Out and Stay Out: Never go back inside a burning building for anything or anyone.

2️⃣ Go to Your Safe Place: Have a clear, predetermined family meeting place outside (like a specific tree or neighbor's mailbox).

3️⃣ Call 911: Once you are safely outside, call for help right away!

🚒 A-Shift Equipment Maintenance 🚒

Today, A-Shift completed routine maintenance on Tower 1, including regreasing the aerial tower in accordance with NFPA 1910.

Proper lubrication reduces friction and wear on the tower’s moving components, helps prevent premature equipment failure, and ensures the aerial operates smoothly and safely when it is needed most.

Regular maintenance may happen behind the scenes, but it plays an important role in keeping our equipment dependable and ready to respond to any emergency. 🔧🔥

Your A-Shift firefighters completed two training evolutions today focused on strengthening operational readiness.

The first evolution focused on tower operations and the rescue of potential victims from elevated windows. Crews worked on aerial positioning, discussed victim removal, and safe operating procedures.

The second evolution focused on pump and aerial operations, giving firefighters additional hands-on experience with apparatus operations and water supply.

Your Owosso Firefighters remain prepared to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us.
